Hi everyone!

The world is going through a crazy period right now. Covid-19 has turned our every day lives upside down in more ways than we can count. One of the things that has been affected is the celebration of birthdays. We’re we would once get together and have fun, we are now faced with the reality of having to stay home, celebrate through video calls, and not being able to shower the person we love with gifts.

Although it is not a normal for a lot of the fandom, some have made it a tradition to send a little something to Melissa McBride to celebrate her birthday. This year we are faced with the fact that the studio is closed and thus our gifts will have to wait to be delivered. And that’s where a crazy idea was born.

What if this year we show Melissa the strength behind her fandom? What if we get together to make donations to honor her birthday?

It doesn’t matter which ship you ship, or which scene is your favorite, or which part of Carol’s storyline you like the most. Let’s get together to show Melissa how much we love her and help others at the same time.

The activity is as follows:

1) Make a donation from now until the day before her birthday (Her birthday is on May 23rd, so any donation until May 22 is in) to any charity you like the most. It can be to a Georgia hospital, food bank, shelter, or to your local charity. The point is to help a charity with whatever you can. Even a $1 helps!

2) Take a screenshot or picture of the donation receipt they send you. Please make sure to black out any personal information. All that will be needed is your name and the donation amount.

3) Send the screenshot to: [email protected]

4) I will tally up the total of the donation and keep a list of the names or usernames (depending on which one you send) that have participated.

5) On the day of her birthday I will tweet to her a little birthday message as well as the total amount donated to honor her birthday and the list of people who took part in the donation drive. I will tag this with #melissabdaydrive.

It’s that easy!

I know times are hard now and not everyone can donate. Please DO NOT feel like you have to donate if you can’t. Melissa knows how much we love her whether we donate or not. Not donating doesn’t make you a less of a fan.
