team dean, Jess or Logan (Gilmore girls) and why
Team "the writers ruined each boy for the next boy" believer
Team Logan cz he had the balls to say rory "no". And they looked good together. Messy? Yeah but that is endgame. Two people who are horrible must end up together so they dont ruin othhers life
Rory & Logan 🪽
been casually rewatching gilmore girls, the earlier seasons (pre logan), and i'm astonished actually bc everyone and their cow seems to be like ok dean sucked, but logans so bad for rory and jess is the best. like honestly that's the take I've been seeing by far the most often, so many times that in fact i had begun to question my own stance on the thing.
like ive been team logan since day fucking one and ive almost exclusively rewatched the series from the point logan shows up onward and hardly ever considered the rest. for many reasons, e.g. i found the early chilton stuff quite tedious, i hate lorelai x max and the dean drama plus then dean vs jess thing is kind of annoying. i love the series, but it's always been a go to for comfort, and seasons 5-7 are just more comfortable.
so that's why i could barely remember any detail about the jess storyline. mind you i don't like dean, i mean i believe he was a good first boyfriend experience, but his 2nd and ofc especially 3rd time around i hate him. but now everyone's like oh jess was so good for rory, jess saved her, jess is endgame.
the fuck? jess was not a good boyfriend by any means? at least not that it was shown on screen, afaic. they were not a good couple either, it's not even like, his fault, but he was hardly ever there for rory, he didn't want to do the things she wanted to do, he lied to her and he barely talked about anything - at least after they got together. for the time before that, yes, he was kinda cute to her, but as soon as they get together it's mostly him being jealous or angry at dean, being broody and moody, and lying about going to school. i would blame rory for a lot of what goes wrong too, like the thing with the black eye and the swan and whatnot she's horrible as well, but he. is. not. a good boyfriend.
yes he's had a horrible life with his mum being liz and his dad being useless and then being shipped off to luke who's honestly, like, yeah, i guess doing his best or whatever. i see that and i can make excuses for him based on that, but not enough so to praise him for something he hasn't done or been.
yes, it's jess who ends up succeeding in knocking some sense into rory about quitting college. yes, i think we can credit him with that. but it's like everyones giving rory so much shit for breaking down and dropping out it's as if she's the first gifted kid who ever realised that maybe her dreams weren't as reachable as she had been told all her life, who felt like she bigtime failed for the very first time and had no idea how to deal with it? like her entire personality was one thing and then someone came and told her "huh, no." and so she's spiraling and honestly, i don't blame her, and i really don't think i would like you if you do. so yeah, thanks jess for getting her back on track but also let's not demonise everyone else around her who were all trying their own ways of giving her what she needed.
but then he also, if i remember correctly, comes back round, she hangs out with him for 2 seconds and he decides that she's peobably also still or again into him, and freaks out learning she's still with logan. whom he doesn't like cause he was shitty around him, the ex boyfriend who claims to be a just friends. not at all like he has some experience with that himself? i guess fine, they should be more grown up by the time, but like i doubt that we ever really grow out of these thought patterns so I'm still cutting logan a little slack here even though hes behaving dead stupid for sure.
idgaf about a year in the life, they completely ruined logan there for me and i don't even remember what jess was up to apart from again showing up and being like the saviour which is like, yeah fine.
so to sum up, why are so many people team jess, i don't get it, and I'm not sorry
No one here is going to care but I needed to tell someone, so the fandom place felt like the right venue.
You know that stage of the celebrity crush where you go down their imdb rabbit hole and watch all the things you can find them in? Well I'm in that phase for Matt Czuchry (Logan from Gilmore Girls).
He apparently has a cameo in one episode of Opposite Sex the tv show from early 2000s, which I am familiar enough with, thanks to being in the Evans fandom.
So I go to watch this episode (the model UN field trip to NYC one, for those who care), which I have definitely seen before, but I had forgotten a lot of the details.
Anyway. Matt Czuchry's character, Kurt, shows up for literally five seconds, but the funniest part is that he takes a love interest, Lisa, away from Jed, played by Milo Ventimiglia. (To be fair, Jed didn't actually want to be with Lisa, but he still seemed miffed by it.)
On another note, I felt nothing when Evans was on screen, so I think that's a lot of progress. I can still pick out his voice out of an audio line up.
Anyway, that was it. No one else will care, but I needed to put this out into the void. I think I unlocked some self discovery after watching that episode though, so adding to the list of topics for my therapist.
Anyway, hope everyone is doing well, considering the state of ::gestures around::.

i’m a logan girl through and through but people saying they don’t understand why people would be team jess because the only nice thing about him is “that he could read” pisses me off so bad lmao.
yes, jess hurt her a lot but at the end he was the only one that was truly getting her. no one could convince rory to go back to yale, but it took one conversation with jess and she was back.
he understood what she needed and got through to her. that’s also why she fell in love with him. he could read her like an open book, he was attentive and that’s something especially dean wasn’t.
he had his scars, yes but he was never really “the bad guy” especially with their car accident. i get that lorelai was furious because someone got her daughter into an accident but all he cared for was her and her wellbeing.
he also was the first one to not see her as that perfect child and i think that was very important. they were all acting like he is a bad influence when in reality rory could feel free with him for the fist time.
he isn’t the right one for rory in the end, but i think he was someone she needed and i think as friends they’re better off.
or if he sorts out his issues lmao.
i definitely contributed to this i have 3 playlists dedicated to rory and logan because 13 year old me was obsessed with them and champagne problems
