I had the fortunate experience of working in a tea cafe for over 8 years while finding my footing in my craft. Tea has become such an integral part of my practice, and it'd be super rad to open my own witchy cafe and metaphysical shop someday 🖤

Hello everyone <3 🍇🕯🐆
Since it’s the season where colds are everywhere, especially in winter, I decided to share some natural remedies you might already have in your witchy kitchen. These can help make your cold more manageable and speed up recovery. (for me it worked so good).
I want to mention that I used to have very low immunity and would catch colds almost every month. However, since I started practicing witchcraft and keeping more plants and spices in my home, my immunity has improved, and my colds have become milder.
Here are some ingredients to protect yourself during cold season. These can also double as spells or offerings! I combined all of them in a tea, which helped with my cough, sore throat, and more. These were the only ingredients I had at home for spells, offerings, and practical use, and they worked wonders since I couldn’t afford medicine at the time.
Honey 🍯
Honey is an excellent antioxidant and soothes the throat effectively. I wasn't a big fan of honey but now I love it and it's also very great to shorten the duration of your flu.
magical properties: healing, love, and abundance.
Lemon 🍋
Lemon is high in Vitamin C, making it great for protecting against viruses + relieving the nose and throat congestion. You can add it to tea or eat it plain. A very good combination is mixing water, honey and lemon before going to sleep.
magical properties: purification, happiness, friendship & banishing negativity
Cinnamon 𐙚
Cinnamon is fantastic for fighting infections, reducing inflammation, and helping with respiratory problems.
magical properties: love, power, protection, prosperity, good luck
Basil 🌿
Basil is incredibly helpful for migraines and irritating coughs, whether added to tea or food. It's also high in Vitamin C.
magical properties: protection, love, and wealth, banishing negativity
Oregano 🌱
Oregano has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. It’s particularly good for sore throats and often used to strengthen immunity
magical properties: good health , happiness, and luck.
Cloves
Chewing cloves worked wonders for my sore throat, fever, and chills!!!! They also act as a natural disinfectant and they are great to warm the throat
magical properties: protection, clarity, good luck, love
Fennel 🍃
I originally bought fennel as an offering for Lord Dionysus, but it turned out to be incredibly helpful for bacterial infections, mucus, and respiratory problems. You can chew it or add it to tea ( I preferred chewing it).
magical properties: purification, courage, strength, healing, confidence
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁
Garlic and ginger are highly recommended (though I didn’t have them at the time).
Occasionally, I added lavender tea bags to my tea mix. Lavender promotes relaxation and healing.
I drank 3–4 cups of tea per day and was completely recovered in five days.
‼don't forget to drink plenty of fluids; wear masks in public to protect others and yourself and get lots of rest, it's very important for recovery.
Thank you for reading, hope it helps you and stay safe and take care of yourselves ♡🍇🕯❄

some tea recipes
if you like tea rituals or giving tea offerings, then this post is for you! keep in mind, though, DEFINITELY do your research on any of the herbs/plants I've listed here if you've never put them in your body before. there's no harm in making substitutions or omitting certain things for the sake of your own health. i've gone ahead and highlighted some herbs that have potential side effects (although not everything i've highlighted may effect you, and not everything i haven't is for sure safe).
also, all of these teas can be made with one of those little tea strainer balls, or with a good mesh sieve. either way, have some way of removing the mix after it's steeped, because over-steeped tea can get sour. store any leftover tea mix in an airtight container in a cool, dry place
if you need to replace any fresh ingredients with dried, divide the quantity in half. also, some of the floral teas will seem like it's a lot of mix just for one cup, but petals just aren't as strong as leaves/roots/etc.
CLEAR SKIES TEA
Ingredients: 1/2 cup dried peppermint, 1/4 cup marigold petals, 2 stalks of finely chopped lemongrass, 2 tsps orange zest, 1 tsp ground ginger Extra Instructions: steep for 10 minutes, use 1-2 tsps for 1 cup

I highly suggest a nice blueberry and hibiscus tea when looking to touch base with your spirituality and heighten your intuition. Deepening your personal path and protecting your craft. Also, a dash of honey added can enhance this so strongly and beautifully. Remember that witchcraft can be as simple (and delicious) as that.
Please make sure to read into the ingredients before trying; to make sure they are safe to consume for you personally.

🌿 color correspondence: choose a mug that corresponds with the energy you'd like to bring in. for example, if you're trying to calm down, you could choose a blue or muted color.
additionally, if you're like me and have a lot of mugs with graphics or imagery, consider how those correspond. for example, drinking out of a "luck of the Irish" mug if you're calling in good luck for the day.
🌿 herbal properties: the obvious consideration is what the literal herbal properties of your tea are. if you're looking to soothe your stomach, consider peppermint or ginger tea. with this, we can think about caffeine content as well. we can be intentional about drinking caffeinated teas when we need a boost in energy and alertness.
also, remember, nothing is stopping you from sprinkling some cinnamon or ginger powder on top of your tea. get creative with it!
🌿 temperature: this is a component i don't see discussed as much among practitioners. choosing to drink your tea hot or iced can amplify different spiritual properties. i find that iced tea tends to be more physically grounding while hot tea tends to be more comforting and activating. as an example, if you're stressed out, drinking an iced lavender tea may be more affective at bringing in calming energy than drinking it hot. both because of the herbal properties of lavender and the affect of cold on our nervous system.
this obviously can depend on personal preference too! but it's worth considering whether drinking your tea hot or cold will amplify and improve your experience more.
🌿 stirring: this is a classic among witches. you can stir your tea clockwise or counterclockwise to call in or banish energy respectively. i like to stir my morning black tea counterclockwise to help banish tiredness.
this can be especially satisfying if you add spices and/or milk on top of your tea.
🌿 mindfulness & savoring: this part can be especially difficult in our fast paced modern world. but something that i try to incorporate into my tea drinking is mindfulness and pacing myself. as tempting as it is for me to chug an iced tea when i'm dragging in the afternoon, it doesn't honor me or the herbs i was working with. being more mindful with drinking my tea is a small act of rebellion and self care under a capitalist system.

🍵✨ Tea & Magic: Stirring Spells in Your Teacup
Have you ever sipped a cup of tea so good it felt like a whole ritual? Yeah. That's Tea Magic.
Tea is magic. Literal, steeped, sip-it-down-to-the-last-drop magic. For witches, mystics, and those in between, tea isn’t just comfort in a cup—it’s transformation, intention, alchemy, and a cozy moment to call your power back.
And while we’re brewing this conversation, yes—we’ve partnered with our favorite tea people over at Harney & Sons Fine Teas for this post. But don't worry this isn’t a sales pitch disguised as spirituality. It’s a sacred sipping session, and Harney & Son just happens to make a damn good brew worthy of your altar.
☕ Why Tea Is a Magical Tool
Unlike some ritual tools, tea is one of the most accessible forms of magic. Whether you’re in a dorm, a tiny apartment, or a witchy cottage, all you need is hot water and herbs. Tea can cleanse, enchant, heal, or activate—depending on what you put in it.
Here’s why witches love tea magic:
It’s multi-sensory (smell, taste, touch—engages the full system).
It’s consumable magic—you absorb your spell.
It’s adaptive for all abilities—low-energy days? Brew and sip. That’s the spell.
It can be daily or ceremonial—make it what you need.
It lets you connect with plants and their spirit allies intimately.
🌿 Magical Herbs in Tea & Their Uses
Let’s get practical. Here’s a list of popular magical teas and their properties, many of which you can find in pre-blended form with Harney & Sons:
Black Tea (Focus, Protection, Grounding). Good for banishing brain fog, setting firm boundaries, and commanding energy. Try: Earl Grey Supreme, English Breakfast
Green Tea (Healing, Clarity, Growth) Excellent for intention-setting and clarity work, especially during New Moons. Try: Japanese Sencha, Tropical Green
Chamomile (Peace, Dreams, Protection) The ultimate comfort spell. Use for sleep magic, peace, or to ward off nightmares. Try: Egyptian Chamomile
Mint (Focus, Purification, Prosperity) Sharpens the mind and clears psychic debris. Great for Mercury days or before readings. Try: Mint Verbena, or blend with green tea
Rose (Love, Self-Worth, Beauty) For love spells, heart chakra work, or divine feminine connection. Try Mother’s Bouquet (rose + chamomile)
Cinnamon (Fire, Prosperity, Speed) Add heat and momentum to any spell. Try: Hot Cinnamon Spice (warning: it’s addictive)
Thats just a few for our lovely collaborators who have over 300 blends to choose from.
🌕 Lunar Tea Magic: A Brew for Every Moon Phase
Aligning your tea practice with the moon phases brings extra power to your ritual.
| 🌑 New Moon | Fresh starts, clarity | Green tea + mint, lemongrass | | 🌓 Waxing Moon | Growth, abundance | Ginger, cinnamon, rooibos | | 🌕 Full Moon | Power, divination | Rose, jasmine, white tea | | 🌘 Waning Moon | Release, rest | Chamomile, lavender, valerian|
Bonus tip: Brew your moon phase tea under moonlight and whisper your intention into the steam.
🔮 Five Ways to Use Tea in Your Magic
Tea magic isn’t one-size-fits-all. Try these and see what works best for your style:
1. Intention Stirring
Before you sip, stir your tea in a spiral while focusing on your goal. Clockwise to draw in. Counterclockwise to release. Whisper your spell into the steam.
2. Tea Spell Bottles
Save your used tea herbs and dry them. Add to small jars with crystals, charms, and symbols for a long-lasting spell jar.
3. Tea Divination (Tasseography)
Use loose leaf tea, sip slowly, then flip the cup onto a plate and read the leaves. (Symbols that appear are messages—trust your intuition.)
4. Tea Offerings
Pour out a small cup for ancestors, deities, or spirits. Use herbal teas for safe, respectful offerings—rose for Venus, mint for Mercury, chamomile for ancestral peace.
5. Elemental Magic
Water? Check. Fire (heat)? Check. Earth (herbs)? Check. Air (steam)? Tea is an all-element ritual in a mug.
🌍 Tea, Accessibility & E-Magic
Not every witch has a full apothecary or garden of herbs. That’s okay. Magic doesn’t require perfection—it requires presence.
Pre-made blends (like those from Harney & Sons) are valid magical tools. Whether you’re a spoonie witch, neurodivergent practitioner, or just tired, using sachets or boxed tea is still magic.
And if you’re practicing in digital space? Even e-offerings count—a photo of your tea left for a spirit, or an emoji in a devotional post can carry intention.
Ritual Suggestion: The “Sip & Spell”
Intent: Daily grounding and clarity Tea: Harney’s Earl Grey Supreme or Green with Citrus & Ginkgo Ritual:
Brew your tea. Sit in silence.
As it steeps, place your hands around the cup. Whisper: “I return to myself with every sip.”
Sip slowly. Journal one truth revealed to you.
Pour the last few drops onto the earth or your altar.
✨ Final Thoughts
Magic is what happens when intention meets action—and sometimes, that action is as simple as boiling water and choosing your leaves with care.
Tea is magic you drink. Magic you carry inside. Magic that warms you from the inside out. And with trusted blends from tea makers like Harney & Sons, your daily cup becomes an act of sacred self-devotion.
So sip slowly. Stir intentionally. And may every cup be a spell worth savoring.
