Dixon's memoir about his time in the Tank Corps doesn't seem to be available online so Ophelia 'helped' me scan the section that mentions TE to share.

did you notice that
(~4 of my feet x ~1.8 of my feet) oil on canvas
Clouds Hill Book Club π
Last year I decided to challenge myself to read every book read by TE Lawrence (yes ALL of them) partially bc I thought it would be fun and I love setting myself arbitrary enrichment tasks, partially to finally make it through Malory after years of failed attempts, and partially to put off reading The Mint for another decade or so.
Between books he mentions in letters and books at Clouds Hill I have a list of over 1400 books so far to read and I have read 38, currently reading no. 39.
It has been an interesting and rewarding experience so far and for this print I wanted to collect books that were particular favorites or of importance to TE throughout his life (an impossible task, he loved so many books and I have so many titles it pained me to not include) encircled by a wreath of rhododendron, tamarisk, and jasmine.
While he wrote many beautiful things about books and reading I chose this text (from a 1911 letter to Mrs. Rieder) bc I found it both endearing and relatable.
Long post, thank you for reading if you made it through. If you would indulge me a but longer I entreat you to go read something by Joseph Conrad, William Morris, or Siegfried Sassoon, three authors I read through this challenge and absolutely fell in love with.
Hand printed with Cranfield Safe Wash on Masa paper, 16x16 inches and as always you can follow my printmaking work here.
