Danganronpa Tetro Ultra Violet Chapter 1: Part 19
[I Canât Help But Want To Talk To You]
[Day 2, Dining Hall, 4:04]
Theyâd both talked about leaving earlier, but had gotten a bit wrapped up in the conversationâbouncing from Ken worrying about if heâd kill someone or get killed to wondering if they should be taking precautions to joking about the two of them being able to take Wada. Ken learned that Kazutoshi was a crime scene cleaner and âdamn goodâ at what he did. They talked and talked, learning each otherâs favorite color and their opinions on their fellow hostages. They circled back to talk about their situationâunable to help themselves. No point in ignoring the elephant in the room.
By now, Kazutoshiâs voice sounded somewhat raspy, like it was weighted by how tired he surely must be by now. But he hadnât said anything about leaving since and Ken didnât want to assume, so; âShould I be promising the same?â
âEarlier. If someone tried to kill you, I could protect you, too.â
âI donât need protecting.â Kazutoshiâs voice came out sharp, brittle, and dry. Breakable but likely to hurt Ken first.
âI-Iâm sorry. I donât mean it like that. I mean⌠like looking out for each other.â
His eyes closed for a moment, the hand holding his cheek up covering half of his face for a moment. âOh, yeah. That makes sense. âŚâSides, ya donât really hafta worry about YaitabashiâŚâ
Kansaiben? Oh, that suited him, actually. âOh? Why is that?â
âHm?â Kazutoshi turned his face back towards Ken, and maybe Ken should excuse himself first because what if he was keeping Kazutoshi trapped in the conversation? He was clearly tired andâ âOh, I just⌠can take him. Donât worry âbout it.â
âYeah. Howâs roominâ with the doc, anyway?â
âI-I mean, technically neither of us would be able to give accurate statements on our time with our respective roommates.â Ken adjusted his spot in his chair for the fourth time. âNeither of us has gone to bed yet. Do you think we shouldââ
âWe can still have opinions.â Kazutoshi argued. âLike Yaitabashiâs pretty tidy. So, no complaints from me.â
âDr. Hirose is fairly neat as well, from what Iâve seen so far. My room at home is a littleâŚâ
âYouâre messy? How bad?â
âI haveâItâsâhmm. Itâs not that, I-I have a system but itâs a bit of âŚorganized chaos.â
âOh, youâre one of those.â
Ken sputtered, âWhat does that mean?!â
Kazutoshi laughed. âItâs justâitâs like. Okay, when people say that, theyâre usually just lying to themselves.â
He pouted; âWhat? But I do! And I havenât even touched anything yet, soâŚâ
âNot even your workstation?â
âOh, are those already up? When did the rabbit do that?â
âI think when we were having that meeting earlier.â
That was fast. ââŚHuh.â
âI know, right? Mineâs mostly cleaning material, for my job I guess? Yours?â
âResearch materials. I study a lot.â Ken smiled at him sheepishly.
âMakes sense.â He nodded before grinning at him, teasingly, he thinks. âHow else will you gain those pop quiz strategies?â
âContext clues?â Ken offered up.
âRhetorical question. âSides, youâd still need to have context for stuff like that. Youâre smart and intuitive, yeah. But you still need the research behind it.â
âThatâs very true.â
God, Kazutoshi was so fun to talk to. He was a bit argumentative, but it seemed like he just enjoyed it. And he seemed to like when Ken wasnât⌠completely âsocially-appropriate.â Which was⌠so nice.
It felt like he could finally relax around someone who wasnât a family member.
