I like how this storyboard depicts Mal.

I know most of the slapstick in total drama is meant to be funny and you’re not supposed to worry about the real-life impacts of being injured in such a way, like you could make a big deal out of any time any character is injured in the show, you could write a whole fic focusing on Gwourtney recovering from eel zaps or Lightning getting treated for getting struck by lightning— but one bit that sticks with me so much as a Mike enjoyer is him literally dropping a boulder on his own head to protect Zoey from Mal. Like, holy shit. Italian boy I’ve never seen anybody fuck it up like that. His willingness to hurt himself in such an extreme way not even just to help himself with his own anxiety, but primarily to keep others safe from the harm he’s afraid he (or rather, Mal) will do to them…ouch. Even after telling Zoey he has DID, he’d rather try and solve the “issue” of Mal coming back himself by giving himself a severe enough head injury to supposedly “get rid of him” (by the show’s logic) instead of just talking to her. And it’s kinda worse than most other slapstick injuries in the show because even in universe, Mike getting hit in the head last time was actually a big deal. It caused Mal to return. He passed out. Zoey was worried about him. He was ready to inflict that same injury on himself again, not even knowing if it would actually help— which it didn’t, obviously. Like he was so frantic that the consequences of doing this to himself didn’t matter as much as even the smallest chance that this would work.

okay now that I've prefaced this with the headcanon chain thing, does anyone wanna see my flowchart for why adult Mal is near always wearing a leather jacket in my brain?
