My five year campaign, Beyond the Veil, is over. But my favourite thing is that the players had things reversed in such a way that the BBEG's entire existence was rewritten to never become the bad guy, essentially.

From shining adventurer, to mad lich king with god tendencies -- to a man who never was any of that.

Their player characters all got second chances in their lives through their adventures. And they decided to give him one as well. So Aeron (Tarlyn) had his redemption arc alongside their happy endings.

Makes my whole everything warm and fuzzy.

Another DND character who’s currently in a campaign (fairly new as well, we’re on our soon to be fourth session) named Tarlyn Mysek. He’s a drow ranger and he’s seen some shit.

He enjoys being a ranger now, but originally he was forced into it, frammed for a crime he didn’t commit. He was horribly bitter and angry the first few years, but it’s been 10 years all together at the start of the campaign. Now he enjoys keeping people and villages safe from the things that lurk in the dark.
