A pair of rare mid-16th century Ferrarese tapestry fragments from Ovid's Metamorphoses
Circa 1550, woven by Jan Karcher to a design by Battista Dossi
Woven in wool and silk, the panels depicting the metamorphoses of Daphne into a laurel tree and the other Pitys into a pine tree, the figures within a landscape with an orchard in the background stood transforming before a lattice fence, Pitys marked PITYS, on her true right thigh,
