Philippines ✈ New Zealand
I was born and raised in the town of Angels--blegh, Angeles City--in Pampanga, the Philippines. My dad dragged us down to New Zealand when I was thirteen and three quarters (May of 2012) and we've lived here since.
What it's like in New Zealand 🐑 pros
They are everywhere. When we embark on long drives and whiz past some greenery, we usually find them in flocks around trees, up a hill, just all over the place chewin' and shittin' on grass. Same goes with cows. The sight fascinates me nonetheless.
Barely any racism; the majority are outgoing and approachable. I honestly had never gone for a walk in the streets without getting smiled at by strangers.
The neighbourhood we're in is peaceful. Too peaceful that it actually gets boring after a while.
It's the place where all the cool peeps like Lorde and Jamie Curry come from.
Everybody will seem intimidating and a bunch of cold-hearted snobs at first but they will eventually come off as fun, goofy and hilarious after you get to know them. (I could be generalising the groups of people in my school and I'm sorry but just to sum up the things that I noticed they all have in common)
And of course: no snakes.
What it's like in New Zealand 😷 cons
NZ Weather (or Auckland, in particular) is very unpredictable, often times schizophrenic. One minute you feel like you're roaming around naked by the shore bc freezing, next thing you know the sun's up there, and then out of nowhere rain decides to pour down. Basically all four seasons taking place in less than an hour.
Growing up in Pampanga (where land is mostly flat) I loathe New Zealand's hill-y roads.
Needless to say, a lot of people including myself whine about the fact that there's not much that we can really do in NZ. I swear, malls aren't even half the size of those back in PH. The closest thing we have to Madame Tussaud's is a, no offence, plain and boring Auckland Museum. Star City > Rainbow's End. Best tourist attraction: bungee jumping? I mean I guess it's alright if you're a daredevil, but no. Can't do that. No thank you.
NZ New Year makes me want to shoot myself. My poor, well-functioning ears. (note sarcasm)

I would honestly rather stay in bed but when I do feel like it I'm usually found in the local library or by KFC at the food court. Because I love their gravy. That came out wrong.
Dream place 🌺
I have mentioned this loads of times before in these type of tags, but I’ve always dreamed to walk in the streets of Japan, most especially in Spring. You know the drill: cherry blossom trees
Where I want to be rn ✌
I definitely want to go back to good ol' 'pinas, preferrably around this time of the year. There is no doubt about that. I would much rather spend the end of every year launching fireworks and just generally being loud than sink in the silence of my nostalgic thoughts. I am not saying New Zealand sucks, it does not, I still have most of my close friends there and I'm sure I'll have a blast when I spend it with them like I did last year, it's just something is always missing. And that is of course the loudness that I got used to.
Sorry, I got really sentimental on that.
