Vox had replaced his head before, multiple times since he first entered Hell. But it had never been violently ripped off the way Valentino had—and that turned out to make a big difference when it came to the process of re-attaching it. The staff had recovered his body, though it had its own damage sustained after he was decapitated, so that’s required additional work as well. And to top everything off, he didn't have Baxter anymore. The next best guy was Barnaby. Between his comparative lack of skill and the unprecedented nature work, his new head scientist needed to do a lot more rooting around to figure out how to make things work when putting Vox back together. And unlike Baxter, this guy had a lot less confidence. Every grunt and groan Vox made caused this man to pause, and his less-than reassuring answers increasingly got on Vox's nerves.
"OW—what did you just touch?"
"Th-the red wire, I'm sorry."
"Ugh. Be gentle with that, would you like someone fucking around with your nerves?"
"AH—now what the fuck did you do??"
"It was the blue wire—"
"That's even worse! Be fucking careful you idiot."
"Stop apologizing and focus!"
But not all of those sounds were out of pain. And long after the surgery was done, those sensations stayed on Vox's mind. He wasn't going to ask Barnaby to experiment with it—he'd rather die. He couldn't do it himself either though, not when the primary entry point was his back.
But ever since making up with Val, the idea of letting him mess around in there within reason...it just wouldn't quite leave Vox's head. Finally, a few days after he'd at least made some amends with Velvette as well, he pulled Val aside.
"Hey I was uh...thinking. Of trying something a little...unconventional in the bedroom." While it was often Val that came up with ways to spice up their sex life, it wasn't the first time Vox had come to the table with an idea. It was, however, the first time he looked legitimately shy about it when he was the one bringing the idea up. His screen was already tinged a light blue before he even finished his sentence.
"Something we never did before. It's a little weird even...even for us."
