Realized I never posted here! We added a new pup to our home. Her name is Cinder, and she is a tamaskan dog.
Tamaskans are a breed of dog that is bred to look like wolves. They typically have low or no wolf content. The breed is young and still in development, and is managed by the ITR in Europe, and the TDR here in the US.
Tamaskans not registered through either of these groups are likely not true tamaskan dogs and are potentially from puppy mills. Only ITR/TDR registered breeders are selling actual tamaskan dogs.
To prevent genetic bottlenecks, outcrosses are still done here in the US fairly frequently.
*Blue eyes are a disqualifying fault in Tamaskan dogs. Cinder has blue eyes and therefore cannot ever be bred, which is fine with us. While I love the breed, I didn’t feel we were in the right place to be contributing in that regard.
**Cinder was an outcross litter that happened before the parents had finished their health tests. Since they did pass, the pups were granted X-tier registration.
Currently helping my friend with socializing their litter of puppies. Here's two of the girls <3
Hey all! Have had a whirlwind of a summer and have felt perpetually behind on social media as well as updates, and these little cuties are one part of the reason! Discovered that the only thing cuter than a litter of puppies is a litter of puppies + watching General Kael who was born almost exactly two years ago today doing his absolute best to figure out how to play with his younger siblings. More smol ceramic critters and update info coming soon! (Maybe more puppy pics too?)

Harry’s animagus form as a Tamaskan wolf dog, from @breaniebree’s A Second Chance!
Isn’t he gorgeous?
Thanks @breaniebree for helping me out with the design!

This is something that's been in the works for a while and has progressed far enough that I'm comfortable making an announcement about it.
In January/February, Flint was accepted into the Tamaskan Dog Register and International Tamaskan Register as an outcross stud. This was after a lot of discussion with the owner of a Tamaskan bitch named Kiera. I met both Kiera and her owners last summer. Both dogs have undergone several health screenings, as the Tamaskan registries are pretty strict about that.
Kiera is a nifty dog. She is a recreational musher who's participated in a few sled and dryland races. She is also an avid outdoorsdog who goes on many cool adventures. She is an outcross herself, her father is a working Hedlund Husky from Points Unknown.
Flint is a small game hunter, does recreational mushing and bikejoring, hiking and packing, weight pull, and lure coursing.
Due to the working/sporting nature of our dogs, we are looking for people who are interested in pulling sport and active outdoor companion dogs, as well as those interested in Tamaskan breeding prospects. There isn't much point in an outcross litter if none of the dogs go on to breeding homes.
Anyone interested in this cross should contact Timberline Tamaskans, they are the one who will be raising and placing the pups.
