Day 99 and 100: in the Port of Dubai. . On our arrival on a misty morning we were welcomed to the Port by a now retired member of the Cunard line, The old Queen Elizabeth 2, which remains now and a newly opened hotel restored to her former glory. . I was overwhelmed by this city. It was definitely mind blowing to witness the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building or to visit the World biggest shopping Center, with its own Aquarium, Waterfall, ice-skate ring, etc. . On my way to the Dubai Marina I also passed by the tallest hotel in the world which is not Burj Al Arab anymore but the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel. The Burj Khalifa stands at a whopping 2,722 feet tall, and to be standing right at the foot of the building, looking up to see it towering over you, glistening in the night sky is rather break-taking.
Designed by American architect Adrian Smith, the skyscraper is the centrepiece of the Downtown district of Dubai, and more prominently, the tallest building in the world.
Boasting the best views of Dubai from the observation deck featuring The Dubai Fountain, the building holds a swanky nightclub on the 144th floor, an envious fitness club and the trendy Armani Hotel.
There are numerous restaurants and bars in the Downtown area including The Address Hotel by Dubai Mall, and Souk Al Bahar, giving you the best views of the Burj Khalifa- most definitely a sight to see.
