Let's be honest. If you're looking at this product, you're probably going to buy it. Why? First, you're probably sick of climbing over the gate every 5 minutes or having to lean over to put down/pick up your kid. Second, you're worried about grandparents falling when they step over. Third, you have no alternative because you already spent $80 with this manufacturer.
The company knows this, and they charge an exorbitant price for a surprisingly cheaply-made product. You know how the regular panels bend in weird ways if you lean on them or when you break them apart or put them together? This gate is manufactured the exact same way, so it's about the same strength when closed. That means that when it is open, it has no support strength at all. It also means that it's surprisingly hard to latch closed because nothing ever lines up just right - you always have to fidget with it to close and latch correctly. It's doable with one hand, but it's still a pain. I would expect that for $50 they could afford to use more plastic material or add some metal to reinforce it.
The gate is not reversible. If it doesn't swing outward in the right direction for your needs, you have to reverse the whole barrier to make the gate swing inward instead. Be careful, though, since it makes the child-proof switch accessible on the inside.
I have been recommending against this company to friends because of this shoddy upsell.
Otherwise, it works as you'd expect. Enjoy!
