Dear Talisa,

I have done you a disservice. You made it possible for a mute to sing, for coal to feel like diamond. You made me feel seen. I didn’t know it was possible to feel more than the amounting sense of dread. That I could exist and care so deeply for another. The way you smiled at me, the way you brought me to the front when I would have remained hidden, how you unabashedly say what you are thinking. 

I never asked you to be someone you're not but in turn I ended up putting you on a pedestal. That you were above me and that I couldn't bring someone with such radiance down with me. It wasn’t a thought in my mind that perhaps you were already down here with me. That you might not be affronted with me in your life. It wasn’t my place to put you so high that I thought I knew what was best for you. 

There hasn't been a sentiment that has resonated with me more then 'not knowing what you had till it was lost' be true. If only I had realised that you weren't some shooting star out of reach but in my arms I would have held you tighter. Another of my blunders.

This letter might get to you too late but even if forgiveness isn’t in your heart I wish to express to you that I have seen the errors in my actions. That I am apologetic, that I didn't listen to you, that I chose for you, that I didn't see you, that I caused your heart to ache. I would like to say this all to you in person, though I understand if you have no interest in making amends. 

He'd seen her – in Avalon, when they'd all gone into the Eluvian. But fragmented memories were harder and harder to piece together, and with Eivor so caught up in his emotions, he'd barely processed who she truly was and where he'd known her from. Moments in Aetheron, the Archon and all of his desires, all those he subjugated, and a dragon that Eivor was certain was more Aetheron than anything else.

He didn't make his presence a surprise or secret, the prismatic dragon landing and shifting before he made his way towards where he'd seen the Steel dragon.

When: before they leave for the Haven

In the nearby stable of the inn with brush in hand Lyklor groomed Renie before a long travel. Inspecting her that she was safe for travel, inspecting in between the feathers of her wings. It was ritualistic. “Who’s a good girl?” his hand stroking her snout. “I’m not sure where we are going but Talisa wants us to meet her. Are you ready?” he didn’t expect an answer while he loaded her up with their belongings which were still awfully light.

Leading Renie through the streets of eterna they were used to the stares by now, it wasn’t mosts everyday to see a pegasus in the streets. While they waited for Talisa a little girl with wide eyes wandered close. A mother looking apologetic behind her as she asked the stale faced Lyklor if she could pet Renie. There was a moment of silence from the despair daemonfey. “I can do you one better.” He looked for permission to pick the small girl up and place her on Renie's saddle. It was while the girl was on renie back that Talisa arrived “I’m sorry we might be a minute.” he apologised as the little girl squealed in excitement, her little legs kicking out.

There had been an odd draw to Talisa, perhaps it was how she saw the world or how she acted but there was something that made Lyklor want to protect her from the likes of himself. Maybe it would be wiser to stay away from her but she had made the grumpy, irritable, venomous aspect of despair smile. “I have a couple tickets to go watch a play the bards are putting on.” He pulled out both tickets to show her “we could go.” It was an offer but her wasn’t sure if she would accept it or not. 

It had taken Polaris a beat to recall where he'd seen the woman before, but recall he had. On the other side of the eluvian there hadn't been much time for idle discourse, but while he'd once been in Aetherian chains, building structures at the behest of his captors, he had seen her at the side of the Archon himself. There was a... visceral reaction... but the Baran was old enough to know that not all cages were universal. Some were certainly more comfortable.

A petty exhibition of his own orchestrated itself through the quasi-sentient statues he'd carved of the magisters in question. One laughable display after another, a guffaw here, a flatulent joke there, it paid him a measure of amusement to see the Lysarans laughing at the figures that had, at one point, destroyed everything that Polaris once held dear.

"Talisa, was it?" He asked, brow raised as he gestured candidly to the statues. "What do you think?" The statues captured the likeness of Kansaldi, Anthin, Aeldhert, Aelthryth, and the Archon quite well - if he did say so himself.

When: progress day

Talisa had been amazing! Who would have thought the steel dragon would be so good at attracting customers. Nylathria didn’t originally ask her to help because she would be good at it. It was more she liked Talisa company and if the stall was quiet at least they would have each other to talk to. Nyla was smiling warmly at the sight of Talisa “sweetheart I think you have earned a brake.” At this rate Nyla wouldn’t have enough prizes “ you never said you were this good with people.” Nyla said as though Talisa had been keeping a secret from her. “If you’re not carful I might have to offer you a job.” That wouldn’t be such a horrible idea though.
