The problem with having two moms: an endless loop of "go ask your mother".

MORE KU-TEI
More Ku-tei!
What are tye-kiir and lo-kiir?
The Tha-kiir are separated into three "subspecies", if you will. There's the fye-kiir, tye-kiir, and lo-kiir.
Most abundant are the fye-kiir, which are the more colorful fragile-winged group. Most often you'll find butterflies, bees, and other insects with fancy, elaborate wings. They tend to be more extroverted with careers typically cebtered around dealing with people and charisma, like politicians or teachers. Taleya, Asuren, and Meyzi are fye-kiir, as well as Ra'korra, Ku-tei's named bully.
Less abundant are the tye-kiir, which tend to have thicker, less colorful wings, and are usually moths or beetles. Xalin and Alkali are tye-kiir. They tend to be more introverted with careers centered around labor and intelligence, like engineering, or being a doctor.
And finally there are the lo-kiir, which is a term that's technically a catch-all for the remaining Tha-kiir. These are the wingless folk, which is what lo-kiir actually means. Some people are born as lo-kiir (whether through birth defects or just being a non-wonged insect), and others were born as tye- or fye-kiir, but later became lo-kiir due to losing their wings. Lo-kiir tend to be looked down upon by the other tha-kiir, especially those who became lo-kiir by the removal of their wings, as that is typically a punishment used for the highest crimes committed, usually paired with exile. Those born as lo-kiir are less looked down on and more pitied. Most of the time, due to stigma, lo-kiir go off-planet to find better lives elsewhere. They also tend to do jobs that are more physical as they don't have to worry about wings getting damaged, and many will become soldiers or Guardians, who are an elite guard force specifically to defend monarchs. Dys'kobe is a lo-kiir, but he was originally a fye-kiir.
Some caveats:
There will be butterflies that are considered tye-kiir and moths that are considered fye-kiir, it's not based on species, simply the color and elaborateness of one's wings.
Generally, a monarch is chosen from the fye-kiir population, and they're usually the one with the most elaborate and complex wings. The monarchy is not necessarily hereditary, but there are many monarchs who came from a line of monarchs simply because their wings were passed down.
A tha-kiir who loses one or both wings due to injury, sickness, or war is not necessarily automatically considered a lo-kiir. You can still remain a tye- or fye-kiir if you lose one or both wings in these ways, though you will garner a bit of that condescending pity from others.
Your subspecies does not automatically determine your career or personality! These are generalizations! Dys'kobe was a fye-kiir originally but had a more intellectual-leaning job. Asuren is a fye-kiir but is a warrior, as is Meyzi as he grows older, but that is likely because they're from a space-faring monarchy and jobs tend to be a bit more limited.
