Emma Watson is one of the most beloved and talented actresses of our generation. She rose to fame as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise, and since then, she has starred in many successful and acclaimed films, such as The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Beauty and the Beast, and Little Women. She is also a passionate activist and feminist, who has launched campaigns for gender equality and education.

But where has she been lately? Why hasn’t she done a movie since Little Women in 2019? Well, the answer is simple: she needed a break.

In a recent interview with The Financial Times, Watson opened up about her decision to step away from acting after feeling “a bit caged” and “not very happy” with her career. She said that she felt frustrated by having to be the face and the spokesperson for projects that she didn’t have much control over, and that she wanted to only stand in front of things that she could take responsibility for.

“I was held accountable in a way that I began to find really frustrating, because I didn’t have a voice, I didn’t have a say. And I started to [realize] that I only wanted to stand in front of things where if someone was going to give me flak about it, I could say, in a way that didn’t make me hate myself, ‘Yes, I screwed up, it was my decision, I should have done better,’” she said.

Watson also said that she loves what she does, but she wants to find a way to do it without having to “fracture” herself into different faces and people. She said that she doesn’t want to “switch into robot mode” anymore.

“I love what I do. It’s finding a way to do it where I don’t have to fracture myself into different faces and people. And I just don’t want to switch into robot mode any more. Does that make sense?” she said.

Watson assured her fans that she is not quitting acting for good, but rather taking a long hiatus until the right project comes along. She confirmed that she is set to begin shooting a movie next year, but did not reveal any details about it.

“I absolutely intend to act again — but I’m happy to sit and wait for the next right thing,” she said.

During her acting hiatus, Watson has been busy with other ventures, such as launching a French-inspired gin brand called Renais with her younger brother Alex Watson, and directing an advertising campaign for Prada that she wrote herself. She also said that directing was a “very big deal” for her, and that people always told her she should direct and produce.

We are happy to hear that Emma Watson is doing well and following her own path. We respect her choice to take a break from acting and focus on other aspects of her life. We also can’t wait to see her back on screen when she feels ready. She is an inspiration to us all!
