Sunday blessings, friends! How can I pray for you this week? 🙏💗 Sometimes day to day stressors can get overwhelming. Some days we fall short of the grace we are called to show the world. Some days the best thing to do is to give ourselves a time-out. It’s truly amazing what a little rest can do for your frame of mind. And while I understand and have walked through circumstances when breaks aren’t always possible, I think it is good to remember the important role that times of rest can play in our ability to effectively serve. So whatever pressures hit this week, I pray that you all can find moments of peace and rest that are so critical to renewing your mind and reviving your spirit as we keep our eyes on the prize Jesus is calling us to walk towards. ✨ #SundayBlessings #prayerrequests #taketimeout #restforthesoul #christianwriter #christianblogger #cainspirations #kristicainbooks https://www.instagram.com/p/Co2J_5_L93p/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
I T S. B E E N. E M O T I O N A L Well, it was a pure rollercoaster of emotions this weekend at The Other Art Fair! I think this song is very fitting. MY SOUL IS STRONG STILL Thank you to the amazing @theotherartfair team you are always so helpful and run the show with precision and joy. Thank you to every one of my friends and family who visited me, you are such a beautiful support system! Thank you to every one of the people who bought some of my work. I feel very lucky that you decided to take a bit of my passion and soul with you. Thank you to my beautiful stand neighbours @demioverton @sabrina_brouwers @annafmacdonaldart @formworks_studio @alexanderrandallart you were my saviours! A very big and special thank you to my other half Paul. Who, without him, I would not have been able to do this show in the first place. Your generosity and time and love kept me going. I had a wobble on the last day and cried down the phone to him. The emotions were too much. THANK YOU!!! I think I will be taking a break from doing the fairs for a while. I spent months and months preparing for this show, pouring my heart into my work and I am super proud of the paintings I made for it. It was disappointing that my new pieces haven’t found their rightful owners just yet but I have faith that they will. I feel very lucky to have sold some of my paintings, some artists were not so fortunate. I think I now need some time to reflect on how I can be stronger and more resilient and not put so much pressure on myself to sell. Times are tough for us all and this show almost tipped me over the edge. Lots of love guys! Take Time Out For Mental Health
I should follow my own advice and take time out for mental health, but it’s difficult because I find it difficult to switch; something is often whirring around in my mind. It comes with having autism. But mental health is an important component of our beating heart.
Autism
Autism makes it difficult for me to take time out, to switch off. But it is important to take time out for mental health. Exhaustion or burnout can happen to anyone, with or without autism, but the nature of what autism is, can make fatigue or burnout more likely, due to sensory pressures through social situations and us trying to fit in and through sensory overload through autism.
Mental Health
But when you take time out, you give yourself time to rethink, to regroup, to think about your lives. Time out gives you time to think about where and if you need to make any changes. Taking time out is necessary. In a world that revolves around tech, time out is also necessary for emotional and spiritual growth.
Fatigue and burnout
It is essential for anyone dealing with fatigue or burnout, to manage their energy levels. For me, burnout comes through sensory overload, changes in my everyday routine, having to manage other people’s expectations of my mental and emotional disability, which can cause stress and anxiety and certain situations where I have to mask, or camouflage my autistic traits.
I shouldn’t have to fit in. The more disability is acceptable in society, the less fatigued we will be. For me, having to find a place to fit in, is mentally tiring.
