the growing situation of c!dream apologists slandering tadca the way that they are is absolutely horrific, but it more than anything confirms that a Lot of the worst brand of apologism stems from people who absolutely cannot stomach what their favs did in canon who react by just, pretending that they didn't
it usually stems from people who blend c! and cc! to an uncomfortable degree, who do whatever they can to erase or soften or ignore what c! did in order to preserve their image of cc!. by extension, they see conversations about canonical child abuse, stalking, murder, etc and they react as if they're being invented wholesale by some weird uncomfortable part of the fandom (rather than acknowledge that it's being lifted straight from the text).
you see this on a much smaller scale in the fandom a surprising amount. I've gotten in long conversations with people who refused to believe that c!tommy was a minor (even when presented with canon instances of him being referred to as such) specifically Because to them it'd make the villains that hurt him irredeemable.
it's a weird sort of denial that can only be maintained by demonizing and lashing out at people who challenge it.
