#tadc rambles

I've been mulling over something for a while, and I think I'm ready to say my piece.

I saw this poll from a channel I'm subscribed to, and it inspired me to make this post.

SCRATCH IS THE MOST UNDERUTILIZED CHARACTER IN THE ENTIRE SHOW.

Say what you want about Pomni and Jax getting more attention throughout the series, how Queenie and Kaufmo didn't get nearly enough character development, or how Ragatha was only perceived through the eyes of those around her. I still say that Scratch was the character that got shafted the worst.

He has no audible dialogue (in the original English version), two on screen appearances (not counting the Dobby Dogs in episode 4), and absolutely 0 merch.

I personally think the series ended to my satisfaction, but aside from never getting an on-screen appearance of the Digital Carnival (apart from one post on Glitch's X profile), my biggest grievance is that we didn't get to really know Scratch as a person.

We have what Kinger told us, but we don't get to see what he's like, how he thinks, or even his room. Plus, there's this weird connection with him and hot dogs. Is that just a joke because of his avatar, or is it conducive to his personality? We don't get to know.

I'm all for leaving some things up to fan intepretation, but I just feel like we didn't get enough about the guy who helped make the entire Circus, the AI in charge of it, and the programs behind it all. He abstracted first. What was that like for those around him? How did Kinger feel when it happened? Using the process of elimination, we can deduce that Queenie was still around when it happened. How did she feel about her husband losing one of his closest work partners and even friend? Did she try to comfort him? Could failing to do so, or an event surrounding it have led to her abstraction as well?

One final thing to note. A fan asked Gooseworx why Scratch abstracted in the first place, and they answered that Caine "tried to fix his brain and make him happy." What exactly led up to that? Caine said at the end of episode 7 that if he tried to alter anything more than stuff involving adventures when it comes to the Circus members' minds, it "would not end well." That's when Kinger recalls Scratch, in full light, at that. There's just so much untapped potential here, enough to make a prequel series, in my humble opinion. I'd also love to see more of the other abstracted members and what they were like, but that's another matter.

In conclusion, I think the show was amazing, just like it's name. I just wish we could've seen more of the mind behind the nonsense, in addition to Kinger. Despite knowing barely anything about him, he has a decent size fan base, who I assume feel the same way.

Finally got time to watch the finale of tadc now that all my school assignments are done!! TBH I didn’t love it. The idea that they’re all just brain scans kinda just takes away from the characters whole predicament of being stuck in a digital world. And how did Caine survive the deletion???? I also didn’t like how Jax abstracted off-screen. Like five mins in and he’s just abstracted and it’s no big deal? Like none of the characters even react to it. It would’ve been better if we actually got to see what it was like for him to experience that. I did like the little montage of his memories at the circus and getting to see his perspective on everything (he is my fav character too btw) I cried during the bit where pomni confronts him in his mind. I also loved that scene where he was sharing his personal life with ribbit it was refreshing actually getting to see him open up and be vulnerable.

I overall enjoyed it, but I really like the movie theaters (and ep 8) so I'm trying to not let that impact how I feel but its hard. It's not perfect though and I get why people didn't like it.

if tadc was longer, explored the others more along with the main 2, and explained a tad more about c&a I think less people would hate ep 9 idk.

I dont like jax. I never really have. But I have been avoidant my entire life, and seeing what happened to them and ribbit still hit hard especially in a theater. If you havent been very avoidant or constantly pushed away it probably won't hit like that. Dosen't excuse what dudes done but I feel they explained it well. I didn't feel like they needed to come back from abstraction. We should have had an episode focused on ragatha (episode 5 didn't really feel like it), and one on zooble. or hell just like 12 episodes instead of packing everything into 9. I did love seeing the irl cast though, so cool and I feel like they all fit well.

I didn't feel that much about this, actually… Now that I think about it, I thought I'd get emotional, some parts of Jax's words during his breakdown got me emotional, Ragatha FINALLY getting a proper shown hug, but that's mostly it. It's not like I felt nothing, I was really happy and laughed a bit, but despite entering with 0 expectations, it didn't hit me as hard as I hoped.

It wasn't a satisfying ending, not really, though I DID want Jax to abstract and I enjoyed the movie, it felt pretty fast paced, for how amazing TADC was for me until now, I felt kinda bad about not enjoying the pace the movie went with, it felt like KDH, out of nowhere things felt too fast. Maybe that's just me tho.

I have a horrible memory and usually only start giving my opinion once i rewatch the episodes a couple times more, but since I can't right now.

I love the ending Jax got, mainly because that was what I wanted for him, but I must admit it did felt kind of odd that all that talk was only for him to be kept as a glorified pet... Did he even get to listen to his real self's life? Did he at least get the knowledge even his human self's got friends? That even the ''real'' human that got to live all of what he did too got friends, a job and did NOT kill anybody apparently? I'm not sure if everyone agrees if he deserves it or not, but, maybe...?

I'm a sucker for this kind of endings, I love the kind of ending that feels empty for the characters to an extent, but still, it all went so fast I couldn't really linger on the feelings that gave me, maybe it was that half of it was the episode I had already watched and I just wanted to go directly to the new part, maybe it was the way Caine did his recap at the start that gave me the ick (It really did, I did NOT like how much emphasis Jax got on that small section, like, really felt like the posts of ''Oh, Jax is SO annoying and gets ALL the spotlight. Pomni is focused SOLELY on HIM'' and maybe it's true but it just rubbed me the wrong way) or maybe it was something else entirely.

8/10 movie! Loved it! I just wished it didn't feel so fast, the credits got my whole theater room laughing, Zooble got his share of the cake and so did Gangle, good for them and their digital existence, really, still felt kinda hollow from time to time. However still a great work and I am totally gonna rewatch the YouTube premiere the 19th.

Honestly dunno what I'm writing right now, I need to organize my thoughts after June 19th when I get to rewatch in English, maybe my opinion will change when I get the full episode with the canon voices instead of the Spanish dub. (No shame to my Spanish voice actors! They did amazing! I just don't usually take my native language's dub seriously because I associate Spanish with comedy and the voices obviously sound very different)
