Maison Martin Margiela black skirt with lining pulled out of the pockets — fall 2003 Not shown on the runway (or perhaps underneath that one long coat) but here's a small photodump of FW2003 detail references. As you can see the season was infused by glimpses of lining showing. Whether it was by creating fake tears or by adding axcessive fabric as if it was ripped due to fitting. A fairly understated collection except for the glorious confetti tabi boots. Goodie goodie another pair of archival tabis! This pair comes from the fall 1996 collection. (Our Millenial mind still can not comprehend this was 26 years ago!😭) Model's legs and tights were painted, as well as the tabi boots. One of three seasons (spring and fall 1995 too) for which these style of tabi pumps were created. Not cut open enough so that they would be seen as regular pumps. But also not closed up enough to be seen as ankle boots. Martin really succeeded at making the Uncanny Valley of shoes, in tabi version. If you're a small size 38 or a 37, you're in luck! They are stamped as a size 38 but check the measurements because the archival tabis run smaller. As you might've seen in our stories, we sold some Margiela teddybear boots with a nail heel a while ago. In the same collection of crazy Margiela shoes, we present: Tabi Cowboy boots with stiletto heel in gold (!!!) Yes you read that right, they took cowboy boots, put tabi toes on it and, why not, a stiletto heel. And if that wasn't enough, the Margiela team said: 'well lets make them in gold.' Liberace would be proud. These shoes shouldn't exist, and yet they do, and we're here for it. A combination so crazy, so weird, so over the top that you hate to love it. Or love to hate it.
