latchtive

A latchtive is a headmate who considers themself sourced from something, but rather than strictly originating as that thing, they latched onto it as an identity or source sometime following when they came to exist in the system. An example of this would be a fragment that did not elaborate into a full headmate until the system watched a movie with a character with similar traits as the fragment, who then latched onto that character and became an introject of them. With a latchtive, it tends to be that the headmate/fragment/part/etc. latching onto the external identity did not have a very strong sense of identity beforehand, or was not a full headmate before taking on this identity. Some latchtives may view the external identity as being responsible for or helpful in causing them to develop a full sense of identity at all. However, none of this is necessary as part of the term, just the idea that a headmate somehow became an introject of some kind or gained a source but after coming to exist in the system.

— What is an afflimorbic system?

—— An afflimorbic system is a system whose members gain illnesses/disabilities when they go through something traumatic or extremely stressful. This is typically in an attempt to represent emotional scars through more noticeable damage since you can't see psychological scars within singlets.

This damage can present as physical disfigurements, missing body parts, chronic illnesses, paralysis, allergies, or mental illnesses/disabilities. These symbolic representations don't always show up on the body, but they might, depending on the system.

All plurals can use this, this term is 1000% endo friendly!

Misguided mood-booster

A term for systems where most/all of the alters are cannibals, cannibalism is a part of how the system functions, or systems who crave human flesh!
