Osdd system here, I (host) have been mostly alone for a while with some passive communication here and there. Lately with on of my alters its like he will come around and there is resistance in switching…idk where its coming from. I can usually step to the side and let others front when they are around but lately its like im too tired to do it, it feels exhausting. It’s bringing up anxiety that we are faking. I also feel bad for feeling resistant to letting others switch with me. Is this normal? Like part of me wants to let him switch out with me desperately so I can have a break (we have been really busy and I have been doing all of it myself), but I just can’t bring myself to do it.
Hello Anon!
First let me just say that I' sorry it's been hard. Patches of rough switches are really difficult, especially as you adjust to how your System works. I really truthfully hope this passes for you soon.
It is normal, as I understand it. Periods of little to no switching, periods of rough switches and feeling drained in the front are all things we've experienced as well as the others around us. Sometimes the System just does what it wants and as normal as it is for you to be able to step aside, it's still up to the System who's fronting. 'controlling switches' only comes as a result of good System communication and it CERTAINLY isn't 100%.
You're not faking it. If you did not wake up and decide you were going to fake having DID, then you are not faking it. Systems go through a lot of rough times and it's a disorder that is covert, meaning we're hardly even supposed to now WE have it. I know it's hard and I know it feels like you're attention seeking, but you're not. You're valid, even when things aren't going normally.
Sending you good vibes, Anon.
