Fantastic chapter, love seeing Susie navigating the hard conversations and being furious whilst still loving someone. Complex and real and messy.

There exists one au version of System Failure in my drafts folder, where alternate universe Ana who I named Charlotte, cuts Toto off and works for the simulation department at Red Bull 😂

She also had brain cancer and never bothered telling Toto.

idk maybe it's more common but the expanse is the only sci-fi i can think of where forced asteroid hits on a planet were explored as a realistically terrifying warfare tactic! if it turns out it is actually common pls do recommend those stories to me, i always appreciate sci-fi recs

Ana forces herself to eat salads for vitamins, but never actually tosses all the ingredients together and instead has a plate with like little piles of vegetables all over it that shouldn’t touch each other. She also takes burgers apart and eats the "components" individually. 

There has been one and only one time where Ana truly lost her temper with Toto and that was when he forgot Susie‘s birthday. Toto is still scared of it happening again. Ana was honestly waaaaay more pissed off about that than Susie. 

Also, since then Ana has put numerous redundancies in place so that it’s not happening again, including making Toto‘s Assistant Leonie remind him incessantly and also having put numerous more and more annoying reminders on Toto’s phone. (Let’s just say Toto will never forget a birthday again because there are approximately 43498945 pop ups that keep reminding him.)

Ana has been using Ana as a nickname since school, because people keep butchering the Russian pronunciation of Anastasia, so Ana is easier for most people. Toto is one of the few people that call her by her full name Anastasia more often than not. Max calls her Nastya, because he did google Russian nicknames for Anastasia. Nastya reminds Ana of her grandmother Yelena, because for her Ana was always called Nastyusha.

Even when Toto nearly put the kitchen in his yacht on fire that Summer, he can actually cook quite well. As long as it's nothing Russian at least. Ana also can cook and actually enjoys baking a few times a year, most likely with Jack. Susie meanwhile cannot cook or bake at all, and is strictly a "cereal parent". Max can make pasta and pour jarred sauce over it, but that's where his culinary abilities end.

Ana understands much more dutch than Max thinks she can.
