It’s so ableist how people will jump to “they’re faking” when they see someone saying they think they might have something it seems like they don’t. For one, it’s none of your business. But even if it was, why would you assume they’re faking and don’t just have a little bit of the wrong idea or going off of misinformation which is rampant online. Even if these kids who keep getting accused of faking DID don’t have DID, I’d be willing to bet that there’s something going on they could use support with.
Also like fundamentally, psychiatric diagnosis is subjective, biased and unscientific. There is no objective straightforward science to defend here because these diagnoses are all imperfect socially constructed categories in constant development being subjectively applied with a variety of biases even when professionally diagnosed. Like I don't care whether that person really has DID or not, if the framework of plurality feels useful and relevant for making sense of their experiences I got zero interest in policing that
