Taylor,
I've seen your instagram story and I'm also worried that things aren't being taken seriously. I'm high risk and despite so many people working from home, I'm in a job where I can't work from home. I work in a nursery with young children and very recently we have had children come back from holidays and return to nursery, there was no self-isolation involved before it. I'm sat at home wondering if what I'm feeling is real or if I'm just paranoid, I wonder if I should choose to stay home but then I wonder how my work will cope. My work will offer places to professionals who need care for their children as they have to work to help those with coronavirus (doctors, nurses, paramedics etc) so how can I just stay at home? I also wouldn't get paid if I chose to voluntarily self-isolate and if I did have symptoms, I would get under £100 a week which is significantly lower than what I would usually earn. So financially I couldn't afford it, but also, thinking of the children who do need care, would it be selfish of me to choose to self-isolate when I am so worried about contracting this virus? I have a lot of people who are worried about me and send me messages, my sister has tried to demand that I don't go to work until we have confirmed whether or not there are cases in my nursery, but I can't just not go to work. She fears that I could get through cancer, but what if after that, I can't get through this? It's a very confusing time right now, I don't know what to do for the best. It scares me how people aren't taking this seriously. My mum spoke to me about the future today and I told her that I'm not even thinking about the future, my main focus is getting through this. I wish I could just have someone tell me what to do.
Thank you for speaking about it, Taylor, and if you read this, thank you for listening and being there and being my support system when you don't even know that you are. I hope you and your family are well and managing through this difficult and confusing time.
Lucie x
