There are stories behind the ribbons
Breast cancer is frightening. During the month of October, we slap the color PINK on everything and proceed to throw around words and slogans like Save the Tatas, PINKtober, OctoBRA, Save Second Base, For the Cure, Feel Your Boobies, etc. While I love and support these witty ways of raising awareness, I also feel that we use these words and slogans to romanticize breast cancer and cover up the fact that it is indeed frightening. As the daughter of a 2 time breast cancer survivor, I promise you that breast cancer is not glamorous like the sparkly pink ribbons may lead us to think and its effects go far beyond the month of October. The truth is that the fight against breast cancer sometimes includes double mastectomies and in some cases loss of life. While the AllPinkEverything trend shows women in cute bras holding hands and smiling from ear to ear, the real face of breast cancer is the woman who has a mastectomy to save her life but fears that she has lost the thing that makes people see her as a woman. The real face of breast cancer is the woman who wears wigs because she wants to avoid the public stares, it is the woman dealing with the horrible side effects of chemo [nausea, vomiting, fatigue, sores, blacked and hurting nail beds, etc.] while still having to go to work because bills need to be paid and she cannot afford to lose her job, it is the woman who has to decide whether to freeze her eggs before starting her chemotherapy treatments, it is the woman who has burnt skin from her radiation treatments, it is the woman who is facing the fact that she may not have long with her husband and kids, it is the woman who has always been faithful to God but now shakes her fist in anger wondering why God has betrayed her, it is the woman crying on the floor not long after she convinced her family to be strong and not worry because everything would be okay, it is the woman who *insert the story of any of the other 1 in 8 women diagnosed with breast cancer here* As I dedicate this post to the women who have battled breast cancer, I also encourage everyone to remember that the real goal is her SAVE THE WOMAN. The truth about saving the woman is that it may not be as glamorous as the ads suggest but it is ALWAYS worth it.

If you come at me crazy or disrespectful ... I will BLOCK you in a heart beat
My block button game is STRONG AF
You don’t know me.
Some of you seriously walk around thinking you’re God’s gift to women and I am here to tell you that you are NOT.
Do not send me inappropriate messages, pictures, etc. because the next person that tries me is going to regret their very own existence.
Worse Week
This has literally been the worse week. I have cried every single day. However, I am confident that things will get better because I serve a faithful God.
