AU where Caidyn takes the Mark of Cain

“whatchya doin’ there, big guy?”

“what? nothin’    nothin’, ash   just, uh, i’m cultured, i appreciate art     i’m appreciatin’ art, man.”

“you’re gonna steal that godawful paintin’ and pawn it off, aren’t ya?”

“....shut up.”

            “ gonna hafta’ ask you to never say those words,               in that order, at me ever again, claire. ”

“Well, first things first, I know how you feel about me, like, you make it pretty obvious, buddy, but that’s not news to either of us. Both of us knew I knew. And I know I act like some metrohetero ass all the time, but like-...” Nick pauses briefly, giving himself a moment to carefully decide his words. “I’ve put a lot of thought into it and I- I don’t actually know if I’m, uh, completely straight. Believe it or not.” 

Nick laughs awkwardly, trying to calm his nerve a little. Goddamn, he could go for a smoke. 

“I don’t know what I feel about you but it’s- it’s not really something I’ve felt before. Well, no, I think, maybe, once before, but that doesn’t matter. See, I grew up in the skeeziest slums of Boston in an environment that wasn’t all that goddamn accepting. Although I’ve never personally had anything against dudes blowing dudes and plowing ass, I’ve just always had that prejudice and if anything it’s probably made it even harder for me to deal with my own sexuality. I guess I kept having to prove to myself that I didn’t have a gay bone in my body by being the biggest man whore and wooing chicks left, right, and centre.” 

Nick pauses for a second, his brow furrowing at his annoyance at himself for getting a little sidetracked. 

        she can’t help the huge grin that comes across her face when she see’s the other walk through the door.   ❝ well, look what the wind blew in. d’ya need a room         or did you just miss your favorite innkeeper. ❞
