It's true—there are many types of Apple Brothers that I don't draw very often. After all, the number of my favorite characters that I draw on a regular basis is already approaching 80. If I add any more characters to my daily drawing routine, it’ll just become too much for me 💦 However, I’ve always wanted to draw more from Empireverse. Since this isn’t a specific storyline, it’s easy to draw 😉

Please note that this is a rewrite of an already made au! The original one is made by Song_A! Also I am not the best of writers and even though I am English I’ve always struggled with it! Anyway have fun reading Chapter one!

Chapter one

Past days pt.1

It was a cold, cloudy day in Dreamtale. Everyone was at the village, a celebration for Dream, it was always for him. Though Nightmare had no right to fell this way, he shouldn’t have to feel this envious of his brother. Then tell him why he had already eat a black apple from the Tree, he was getting ready to grab a second one when someone called out his name. "NIGHTMARE" Dream called out, his yellow cape flowing in the wind as he ran to his brrother, and there in the distance siting under the tree of emotoins was Nightmare. He whipped his head around, a the black apple he had eaten laid by him. "D-Dream! your not ment to be here" Nightmare muttered as he quickly stood up and took a step back, his arms raised up nervously.

"you ment to be at the vilgge! why are you here" his right eye looked as if it was driping some type of goop. he watched as Dream came forward slowy. "Nightmare what did you do.. you didn't eat any of them did you" he asked as golden tears fell down his face, his hand reaching out and then falling down slowly. "w-why, WHY!" Dream yelled, his voice full of anger. he took one for step closer, out of arm reach from Nightmare. "Dont you know what those can do to you, DO YOU! THEY COULD KILL YOU" He shouted as he took ahold of both of Nightmares hands. "why, just why... am i not good enough for you?" thats what made Nightmare snap, he pulled away and stepped back.

"WHY DO YOU ALWAYS MAKE YOUR SELF THE VICTEM" Nightmare yelled, his voice full of hate. the dark teal goop dripping from his right eye becoming more noticeable. "for once i want to be the one who is loved, the one who is seen and-" Dream had cut him off. "because that what we are, I am the light, i am the one who is loved, and you are the dark" he stated as he took a step away from Nightmare. "you are maded to be hated, to be scared of, thats what they say in the stories" Dream said coldly and looked at Nightmare. "you we're never made for all the light i get" Nightmare paused, looking at Dream, shock coved his face, this wasn't how Dream acted, no, no he was nice he was good, not this, anything but rude. he shook his head in disbelif. "Dream your acting weird.." he muttered nervoulsy. "why are you acting like this, Dream did something happen at the village?" He asked nervously taking a small step back. Dream rolled his eyes. “Oh don’t act so surprised brother…”

Dream stayed where he was, looking at Nightmare. “I am the one they 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦, the one they see as a god!” He said an almost manic look crossed his face. He raised his arm. “Me a 𝘨𝘰𝘥, can you believe it, and now here you are ruining it for me!” He then pointed at Nightmare. “I need you to be the villain so they see me, 𝘛𝘏𝘌𝘠 𝘕𝘌𝘌𝘋 𝘛𝘖 𝘚𝘌𝘌 𝘔𝘌” Dream ramble taking a step closer to Nightmare, his arm reaching out. Nightmare though, he was scared, he was hurt, is that what his brother saw him as, a villain? But him and Dream have always been close, no this couldn’t be right. “Please, don’t eat anymore apples, I need you to play your part” Dream said, suddenly changing back to his nicer tone. His hands gripped Nightmare’s shoulders, then he raised on hand to wipe some of the dark teal goop dripping from Night’s eye. “Look at this, look at what you did to yourself… but hey, now you can play the part better, can’t you?” Dream said and smiled at his brother, his golden eyelights glowing softly.

“Dream… what are you talking about” Nightmare muttered as he pushed him away. His breath became harder, a sudden pain on the right side of his made him winced as he raised his hand to cover his right socket. “I’m not a villain!” He hissed out in pain. He felt faint, numb and nauseous. “Dream please stop talking this, this nonsense!” he cried out looked at Dream, he didn’t know why, but he felt guilty, that is was his own fault his brother was acting this way. He shouldn’t have eaten that god damn apple.

Dream just laughed. “What nonsense! This is what we’ve been taught, I’m the positive one, the one they are love, they 𝘓𝘖𝘝𝘌 me, and then hate you! The negative one, the one that’s full of hate” Dream explain, his voice taking on that manic tone again. He took a step back, looking at Nightmare, almost studying him. “Mhmm… I wonder, what’s gonna happen now. You ate an apple.” Dream said and tilted his head slightly.

Nightmare’s vision was going black, he could barely stand up, he looked at Dream. “Dream please, your… your not… no..” everything went black.

A sharp pain hit him when he woke. His right eye socket felt hot, it burned. He wanted to scream but couldn’t. He sat up, he had fallen on the ground when he pasted out, he looked around, and that’s when he saw it, all of the golden apples. Gone, the negative, black apples all gone, that side of the tree looked as if it was burned down. “W-what happened…” he slowly got guy, he noticed one apple, on black apple was left. The only thing that could keep him alive, he quickly ran over to grab it. When he did he looked around for his brother. “Where are you Dream… what did you do…”
