I wanted to share the first few steps of taking a bug (or arthropod in general) from a dry dead bug to the final electroformed piece.
First they get placed in to a relaxing chamber to rehydrate them. This allows me to move their limbs and bodies without breaking them.
After 4 days these two were ready to be pinned and moved around. The other 4 beetles need a little bit more time before the lens fully bend. Different sized bugs take different amounts of time.
The last few pictures show how you can move the limbs and bodies around and use pins to hold them in place to dry. I will probably give these at least a week to dry before testing to make sure the stay in place.
When they are done drying I will post the next few steps!
