Tefillat Trans - SVARA: A Traditionally Radical Yeshiva
Very rough concept. His name is Svara and he's an edgelord
Was studying w a new group of ppl and the bat kol(*) came up, and elohim(**) came up, and we were talking abt different ways that gd is described and what conclusions can we draw from that. And someone mentioned that they made a friend who is plural and that as soon as they found out abt plurality, suddenly g?d made perfect sense. G!d can be one and g-d can have different [g*d] fronting at different times. Sometimes it’s the bat kol, sometimes it’s elohim, sometimes it’s hashem(***), and that’s why the rabbis need all these terms to talk abt or one g|d. granted I was having quite a day already but man did that make me cry a bit. I hope I’m not overstepping or anything bc being plural is not an experience that I have but. Just. Learning abt a different experience and immediately finding divinity in it. The b’tzelem elohim(****) of it all. Anyone can see any human experience and see it reflected in g~d. See divinity in it. Holiness. I love. I feel so much love.
* the voice of g;d. A more literal translation is smth like “daughter of the voice”. It is distinctly feminine
** another name/reference to g#d. The “im” ending on stuff in Hebrew makes it plural. This is fascinating bc our tradition comes down pretty hard on the one g$d thing. You’d might expect all the references to be singular. But this one comes up a lot
*** again another name of g.d, this one translates to “the name”.
**** the concept that we (humans) are made in the image of g/d
