You know how poetic Tokka is?-
Both have experienced loss, being misjudged or seen as only one thing, both have been outcast by society be it in different ways but have been pushed aside by the world. (Sokka a non-bender, Toph always treated like a burden for being blind.)
How yes, sokka can't bend but his culture (water) is a smooth gentle parallel to the harsh expectations, and intense power she is forced to deal with. (Earth.)
They balance each other out in such a smooth intimate way, it's like watching a tragic romance unfold in front of your eyes. Because we have the context of lok, we can only imagine that parallel is suyins entire existence. She's the living mirror to this whole dynamic if you really think about it.
Strong, like earth. Elegant and gentle like water, sensitive like the both of them.
Their love is a literal living legacy.

Then VS Now: My Art Is Old Enough To Walk
I can't believe I survived to redraw assets I made in 2020 all the way out here in 2025.
In all seriousness, these assets are pretty old, but I'm surprised they hold up so well. There's a certain charm to them that the current me can't replicate after having gone through years of growth as an artist, and for that, I still really appreciate them.
Of course, hindsight brings with it a fair amount of cringe. I mean, a gardener in pristine white sandals and a skirt? A werewolf in a skin-tight shirt? What was I thinking?
But that's the beauty of growth, I suppose.
And yeah, I'm still a long ways away from what I want to be, but I'm proud of myself for learning from my mistakes, for evolving and using that evolution to make sprites that I think are really cool. Speaking of which, they're right down there under the cut:
