What do you usually do whenever you are thinking of something, or conceptualizing a series of ideas? I usually doodle, make color swatches, or paint flowers. At the moment I'm juggling some decisions on what to paint for a series of projects that is coming up. The easiest, and probably the subject that I enjoy doing the most are plants and flowers. I still wonder why they are collectively called still-life sometimes (because they are living things, oh well). Another bunch of random thoughts there. This is today's spread on my Hobonichi Techo, with Caran d'Ache Supracolor II Soft. This is my everyday carry aquarelle pencils so that I can do color sketches anytime it is needed. Heritage house in Geneva countryside. After a quick colour study, the main drawing was sketched after a photo on a thick Torchon paper (300g) with an H graphite pencil. Actual pets of the owners an fantasy birds were placed here and there. Colors where chosen among a set of Supracolor Soft pencils from the brand Caran d'Ache. It took about me about 17 hours to complete this 50 × 25 cm format. Day 11 of my peonies. This time I used my new Caran D’Ache Supracolor II watercolor pencils. I’m not sure what I’m doing so- I did two different styles on the peonies to the left and right. I think I like the more suggestive and less overworked ones on the left.
