I love the library 🫶 public libraries r actually the best thing ever ?? Like?? Free books and cds and dvds and resources and computers and study space and quiet ??
Was gonna complain about how blockbuster and other dvd rental stores don't exist anymore but then !! I remembered !! that often public libraries have DVD catalogues you can borrow!! And it's free!! More movie nights where you go to the library to pick out the movie instead of scrolling streaming services pls.
⋱ ― ♱ . THINGS TO DO WITH YOUR REGRESSOR FOR COMMUNITY BUILDING ♱
These things do often come with a cost. Energy, money, resources, time, etc. Community requires those things, but find something within your means. If you're living paycheck to paycheck, do something free. If you have mobility issues, find things to do from home, etc. There are so many ways to support your community, and your support is valid and important, regardless of the form it takes.
Community Gardens; Not everywhere has them, but they can be super great to get involved with! Try looking up Facebook groups or just use your search engine to find community gardens in your area! Sometimes these gardens have fundraisers or even allow members to share the food grown. If you have an outdoorsy regressor, this could be a great way to help them enjoy the outdoors while also learning important skills and meet new people!
Volunteer at the Local Animal Shelters; Shelters often take volunteers to help walk or play with dogs who need time away from the kennels. This is not only a great way to help serve your community but also it's a fantastic way to help animals in need. You're helping them stretch their legs and also helping them potentially find adopters! You don't have to foster to help animals in shelters, sometimes they just need some fresh air.
Reach Out; Talk to people who live near you, if you're able. Offer to help carry things for elderly neighbors if you're able. Or offer to help a single mom find childcare or help her get more diapers. If you have immigrant neighbors being targeted by ICE, offer to deliver them necessities. You can also help watch neighbors kids or pets free of charge. Or also help friends schedule appointments or help friends without cars get from place to place.
Support Local Businesses; This doesn't require leaving the house or spending money (all the time). If there's local bands then find them on social media and listen to their music, go to local concerts if you're able. Get deliveries from local shops and local restaurants if you can. Find locals who you could support with your money or attention!
Visit Public Resources: I will never shut up about supporting public libraries! They are partially dependent on your support to function. And you don't have to be able to go visit in person to support public libraries. Some libraries offer online courses, zoom calls for clubs, audiobooks, e-books, etc. and you using those is still important! If you are able to leave home, also maybe considering to going to the local parks and national like nature parks. Your patronage helps them grow. And some parks have free passes or discount passes for low income, disabled or student patrons so do your research!
Support Public Libraries Hard Enamel Pin by MariahDrawsThings
I made my monthly trip to the Friends of the Library sale and bought 64 (yes...SIXTY-FOUR) books for the price of two hardcover new releases from Barnes & Noble. And it's all for a good cause that benefits local public libraries.
