Danceable, melodic, and infectious. It's hard to believe that Abba would call it quits only two years after the release of this album.

“This record was not only the first ABBA album I heard, it was the first pop music I heard, ever. Or at least consciously. I was 7 years old when this was released. It was the only pop music in my parents’ house. They had a cassette copied from a friend’s LP who had also photocopied the lyrics from the sleeve. For those who are familiar with the record sleeve you’ll know that these are white words on black. I became fairly obsessed with these two sheets of lyrics on black shiny paper that were in many ways my only insight to the outside world, telling tales of such exotic marvels as croissants, Glasgow, and walking along the Seine. . This is Abba’s seventh album and it was the biggest selling record in the UK in 1980, with six singles released, and two number ones: The Winner Takes It All (arguably their best song, with Knowing You Knowing Me another strong contender) and Super Trouper. . There is not one weak track on this album, it’s pure pop music perfection. But more than that, there is a huge variety of creativity on here. If you only know ABBA from their greatest hits or the Mamma Mia musical then you’re missing out on such treats as Me and I, Our Last Summer, The Piper and Happy New Year, not to mention the timeless brilliance of Lay All Your Love On Me. . I kept those sheets of lyrics for years.
