ok look i understand the point that the "superman isn't woke you're just evil" posts are trying to make but superman also very much is woke. like. by definition it is woke. that's the point. it's not just saying 'be kind' it is deliberate political commentary
#i will say i take issue with the handling of clark's parents#SPOILER WARNING --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------#-----------------------------------------------------------------------#having them send him to earth with malicious intentions (sort of) contradicts the pro-immigrant messaging it's trying to communicate#which is an issue that could have quite easily been solved without getting rid of the smear campaign plot point by just#making it so lex lied about the message#and having kara/one of the robots translate it correctly at the end#which would have made that entire plot thread much more effective#so i am holding out hope that that's something that gets retconned in a later movie#BUT the movie is very implicitly anti-israel pro-palestine and anti-war/genocide in general as a lot of people have discussed#to an unexpectedly pointed degree#like its not a one to one parallel but it is still *very* on the nose which i wasn't really expecting in the current political climate#especially not from a film with so much riding on it from the studio's perspective#but yeah superman is woke. i understand what people are trying to say but it's very purposefully woke and that's a good thing#superman 2025#superman#clark kent#lara el#jor el#kal el#kara zor el#superman robot#lex luthor
