We have birds at our home. They live in a hole they created right underneath our roof. Don't worry it doesn't get impacted by the storms😂😂Birds are clever.
I can, for sure, say that I know the mother, the father and the rest of the family members. When I don't see the mother for a while I just know that it is that season😅😅.
Their behaviours truly mimic what human behaviour would be if we were all balanced.
They've been in our home for so long I can't recall when I first realised how I kept seeing the same set of birds everyday. Birds from one species may be the same but if you pay close attention to their behaviour you will see that they are different with their odd personalities.
Whenever I'm cleaning, I leave crushed cornflakes and breadcrumbs for them because those are the things they eat. Well, mostly anything that has corn. I think for a moment, I just sit outside to appreciate them.
The father is always the first to wake up just before the sun has risen. He will leave the yard. I don't know where to though.
The mother follows soon after but she is mostly in the yard close to her nest.
Then, when the sun is fully up, I'll hear all the family members. Along with the father. He is always in close proximity with the mother.
Around this time, they are eating, chilling around our house and basking at the sun, if it's there.
Around 10am- 12pm, I'll throw some corn and wait for 2mins. Soon they all flock, including different types of bird. There's a yellow and black one. It's extremely calm. There is a green and black one. Too much energy and can be problematic at times. Then there is an orange and black one that pops up when there is maize in the yard and immediately disappears after eating, then a couple of pigeons that are always in pairs.
The mother has always been unlucky when it comes to children. They all fall and pass away. It happens almost every year. When it happens, birds are many in our yard. Different kinds of birds.
I remember last year, when a developed bird fell. It didn't know how to fly. The sounds the birds made every time I came close to it. I could tell they were all scared. So I stopped.
My mom asked me to send her videos because she wanted to know what would happen next.
I kept checking up on it throughout the day.
When the sun set, the birds didn't leave. I felt so bad because this wasn't their routine. These birds aren't supposed to be out at night. I took it and placed it in one of our rooms outside the house. The following day, I woke up extra early to let the bird out so the father could see that nothing happened to it. It survived another day, but it ended up passing away.
The birds that were in our yard that week😭😭😭💔💔 Shit stains here and there. Nothing too serious. However, I admired them. These birds support each other even if they come from different species. I think they all know what they are all capable of hence there isn't any superiority or animosity amongst them. At the end of the day, they are all birds and I love them.
