The 70's were a wild time for superhero comics. Like, here's Roy Harper becoming a heroin addict, here's the Fourth World, here's the X-Men causing the biggest revolution this art form has seen in 50 years, here's this silly duck who swears a lot, here's Captain Marvel reaching Enlightenment (I am not kidding)

Anyway this whole article is cool, the numbers are from April 2017 so they’re a bit outdated but it’s really interesting to see. I especially like the stuff about various powers and how they’re split.

Due to the tribute to Otto Binder in My Adventures With Superman, I think we should talk about just how many super significant characters he made for DC
For Superman comics, there is the original Supergirl, Bizarro, Zor-El and Alura, Braniac, Krypto, Streaky the Cat, other Superman connected animals, Lucy Lane, Space Cabbie, the members of the Legion of Super Heroes, and a lot of other smaller characters. He also created the the Phantom Zone and the bottled city of Kandor
Otto Binder was also significant in Captain Marvel comics, creating characters like Mary Marvel, Mr Tawky Tawny, Black Adam, Mr Mind, and again, a lot of smaller characters.
