Extended Puppy Pose (Anahatasana): A Heart-Opening Posture
Begin your practice at the front of your yoga mat in Mountain Pose (Tadasana). Take a moment to center yourself with three deep, mindful breaths—inhale and exhale fully through your nose, allowing your body and mind to settle.
On your next exhale, bring your palms together at your heart in Prayer Position, connecting with your Heart Chakra. With your next inhale, gently raise your arms overhead and begin to flow through 3–5 rounds of Sun Salutations to awaken and warm the body. These movements help prepare your spine, shoulders, and hips for the deep stretch and surrender of Anahatasana.
If you're unfamiliar with Sun Salutations, consider practicing gentle stretches to loosen the body before entering Extended Puppy Pose.
