I have a hobby thats just extremely similar to John’s (Homestuck) b-movie hobby or Sunraku’s (Shangri-La Frontier) garbage game hobby where i just really enjoy watching isekai ‘garbage’ (Generally though i kinda stop watching if its just genuinely awful. Most of the time they’re at least like. entertaining at least. i legit just cant finish it if its like hot ass.) and ranking them by how much i like them, how original they are, how well they use the premise, humor, tropes, etc. Ive come across quite a few diamonds in the rough and generally i’ve come to the conclusion that if an isekai/generic levelling type anime is bad then the novel its based on is usually at least like. Decent or mediocre. It honestly depends, it can be a toss-up. The Alacrya arc of TBAtE was genuinely fucking peak (even though i never finished the series ( >m<)) and some other isekai novels I’ve read are just genuinely complete abysmal dogshit but are really engrossing for some godforsaken reason.
