My Top Solo Leveling Ships
Wanted to talk a little about them, so I'll just list three main reasons why I like them otherwise this post will be endless. There are a lot of other ships I like, but these are the main ones
It's a little unhinged, but that shouldn't be new
1. ChoiBaek
This shouldn't be a surprise
They are aware of the other's intentions without needing to tell each other. They both read other people and each other very well. The only reason they don't get along is because when both of them want the same thing (recruiting Sung Jin-Woo, a gate in the area, etc), they are both very willing to fight for what they want and use their perceptiveness to their advantage. One of them doesn't mind having his thoughts being known while the other minds a lot
They both want their guild become stronger but not at the expense of their members. They have the same morals, but the actions they take because of their morals are different. Baek Yoon-Ho wants to make his guild stronger by focusing on what his members need as individuals (paying them more, training new recruits with stronger and more experienced members, etc). Choi Jong-In wants to make his guild stronger by focusing on improving how the teams work together (hunting in a orderly way to minimize injuries as much as possible, taking a leadership role to make sure none of the members are falling behind, making sure the teams are adequately prepared, etc). Both of them care a lot about other people, though they don’t make it obvious to others
Both know the other is strong (Choi Jong-In defends Baek Yoon-Ho when Sung Jin-Woo thinks Yoon-Ho is struggling during the Jeju sparring match while Baek Yoon-Ho is aware of Choi Jong-In's strength during the Jeju Raid) but tend to underestimate themselves (Baek Yoon-Ho believing he wouldn't have been able to win against the Japanese S-Ranks when he held out for a while on his own against two of them, and Choi Jong-In seeing his title as "a joke" after comparing himself to Sung Jin-Woo when he always has to limit how much of his powers he actually uses because of the people around him or the environment he is in)
This got long anyways... sorry. The others are shorter
2. SungPark
I wanted to see them more than the main couple
They are both selfless to the point where they make sure others are alright before taking care of themselves
They both want their family to be safe and happy and make taking care of their children their priority. Park Kyung-Hye tells her son it's okay for him to be a hunter, even though it's the reason why Sung Il-Hwan is gone, and she understands that it's something both her husband and son feel like they need to do
The way Kyung-Hye kept waiting for her husband to return home and knew the exact moment when he wouldn't be coming back Ripped my heart to SHREDS-
They were so in love laskdjfasdlf
3. MinLee
AKA younger!SungPark
Both of them have similar trauma, so they're able to help each other, especially since they're both retired
Even they have trauma, they have put their fears aside to help people more. Both participate in the last Jeju raid despite Min Byung-Gyu being traumatized from the last one and Lee Ju-Hee being traumatized from her previous raids
The way Lee Ju-Hee hardly showed up after she told Sung Jin-Woo she was retiring and Min Byung-Gyu barely being mentioned besides his trip to Japan before the Jeju Raid? There's so much potential for them to actually meet-
I see them as the "bunny couple"
4. ChulWoo
This was actually one of the first ships I really got into
The way Woo Jin-Chul knew Sung Jin-Woo from the beginning and was watching Sung Jin-Woo get stronger without realizing it at first
The way Woo Jin-Chul looked at Sung Jin-Woo in the new timeline when he remembered the previous timeline-
Honestly, in my opinion, Sung Jin-Woo had more potential with Woo Jin-Chul than Cha Hae-in. Like, Sung Jin-Woo avenging Go Gun-Hee not just for his sake but for Woo Jin-Chul? Sung Jin-Woo actually trying to not give Jin-Chul a headache but failing? I love their dynamic
5. HeeSeok
This is probably the most cracked ship out of these, but it's cute
Both of them have a caring, almost parent-like nature (Park Hee-Jin looking after Han Song-Yi during the Red Gate and Eun-Seok looking after and warning Min Byung-Gyu during the third Jeju Raid)
It's actually possible for them to have known each other despite it not being stated in canon (Eun-Seok was a member of the Fiend Guild, and Park Hee-Jin could have been a member of the Fiend Guild as well before leaving for White Tiger. The game might change this part about Park Hee-Jin, but I'll stick with it for now)
The way Eun-Seok wears a scarf with his hunter's outfit, and then Park Hee-Jin gets stuck in a frost Red Gate? And Park Hee-Jin looks somewhat okay despite it being cold, so it seems like both are fine in cold environments
Actually, in my monarch/ruler AU, Frost Monarch!Eun-Seok could be the reason Park Hee-Jin gets stuck there in that Red Gate...hmm
Feel free to ask for more of my thoughts and talk about your own below
In each of your ships, which one falls first?
An ask :D It's been so long- My ships have changed quite a bit, but I'll go with my current top ones. Feel free to send another ask if you want another ship I didn't mention or want more details. I'm going to be brief since I have a lot of ships
ChoiBaek
Choi Jongin fell first. I always imagined Jongin knowing about Baek Yoonho first and gaining a lot of admiration that turned into romantic feelings after they met in person
WooZhi
Liu Zhigang fell first. Only because he saw Jinchul in person first. Woo Jinchul has heard of Zhigang but never gave him much though until Zhigang expressed interest in him when they met. Jinchul is very amused
MinLee
Min Byungyu fell first. Heavily inspired by this fic. Lee Juhee is described as beautiful in the novel, and Byungyu very much sees that. Juhee thinks he's a bit weird when they first meet but finds it endearing
HeeSeok
Lee Eunseok fell first. I haven't really thought too much about their first meeting, but I do plan on having them be high school sweethearts before the gates appear
SungPark
Park Kyunghye fell first. Only because she saw him like a minute before he saw her. It's when he's putting out a fire and she happens to be nearby
GReed
That's a tough one. I've never really thought about it since I usually just see them as enemies with benefits. The thought of them being in "love" is weird. I suppose it would be Christopher Reed though. Hard to see Goto Ryuji falling first. Stubborn, irritable man that one is
JinHae
Cha Haein fell first. I think that's pretty obvious since Jinwoo doesn't really have romance on his mind most of the time. Not that he has much on his mind with that noggin of his
KiMi
I think it would be Han Semi. Mostly because of how she refers to Son Kihoon by his first name so naturally instead of formally. They're very cute and deserve more love
ShootingStar
Lim Taegyu fell first, but he never acted on those feelings since they weren't very strong. It's only when he and Lee Minsung become closer over he joins the guild that he flirts a bit. Lee Minsung might be a bit of a tsundere (I think that's the right term)
I think those are all of the ships I care about. If you're looking for ChulWoo, sorry, but I don't ship them anymore. It would probably be Jinwoo though
do you have any headcanons for ships?
Oh, I have a ton. Not sure which ships you wanted, but here are a few for my top ships. Feel free to ask for specific ships (I have others. There are just some I like a lot more than others) or more headcanons (I like to ramble, so I tend to limit myself. I also tend to repeat myself since I don't remember what I've posted and what I haven't)
If any of my headcanons don't make sense, you're more than welcome to ask for more details about them. I just don't want this to get too long
ChoiBaek:
Baek Yoon-Ho is very physically affectionate with Choi Jong-In in private. It makes Jong-In very flustered at first
After getting together, they don't argue. They both know what the other is thinking well enough that when they do disagree on something, they either compromise or agree to disagree
They express their love through actions a lot more than words. Yoon-Ho isn't good at expressing himself through words, and Jong-In doesn't like directly stating his emotions. They both understand that about each other though, so they show their love in different ways, either with physical affection or doing things for the other
SungPark:
Park Kyung-Hye was the one who asked Sung Il-Hwan out. Il-Hwan was caught off guard by the pretty girl
Kyung-Hye knew when Il-Hwan was preparing to propose to her and just waited for the moment. Il-Hwan was pretty flustered during the proposal, and Kyung-Hye lightly teased him about it afterward
Il-Hwan likes getting gifts for Kyung-Hye and very much has golden retriever energy. Kyung-Hye finds it cute how excited he gets giving her gifts
MinLee:
Lee Ju-Hee and Min Byung-Gyu met sometime during the Yoo Jinho Raid Party Arc (just after Ju-Hee said she was going to retire and before the Red Gate arc)
Ju-Hee didn't know who he was at first since Byung-Gyu kept a few important details secret. She did freak out later. And scold him for not telling her
Byung-Gyu helps Ju-Hee overcome her trauma a lot more than the other way around. Ju-Hee is still there for him when he gets reminded of it though
ChulWoo:
Sung Jin-Woo actively tries not to make more work for Woo Jin-Chul since he knows Jin-Chul tends to have a lot of work. It usually doesn't go as planned. Jin-Woo does his best to help clean the mess though
Jin-Woo usually gets food or drinks for Jin-Chul when he doesn't have time to get it himself (Jin-Woo got the "giving stuff" trait from his dad)
Jin-Chul is the one who tells Jin-Woo not to work too hard. Jin-Chul knows that Jin-Woo can physically handle that many gates but thinks Jin-Woo tries to do too much on his own and that Jin-Woo mentally needs a break every now and then
HeeSeok:
Park Hee-Jin and Eun-Seok became friends during their time at the Fiend Guild. Hee-Jin left, but the two parted on good terms (kind of like how Jin-Woo and Ju-Hee said bye to each other)
They cross each other's path sometimes afterward and would end up spending a lot of time chatting about their lives and friends
They like to get accessories for each other, either hair or clothing accessories
Why do these posts always get so long-

Looks like a cinnamon roll and is actually a cinnamon roll: MinLee, SungPark
Looks like they could actually kill you but is actually a cinnamon roll: ChoiBaek, WooZhi
Looks like they could kill you and could actually kill you: GReed
Looks like a cinnamon roll but could actually kill you: HeeSeok
Absolutely wild thought:
What if when Park Kyung-Hye was in Eternal Sleep, Sung Il-Hwan was able to see her in his dreams when he was asleep?
And they would spend all that time talking with each other?
And Il-Hwan would assure his wife that he was okay despite being trapped and growing tired by the day?
And Kyung-Hye pretended that she was fine at home with their kids, which is why Il-Hwan wasn't too worried about her and Jin-Ah when he finally got out of the gate? (She wouldn't have known about Jin-Woo's powers either way)
And that's why she was so certain Il-Hwan would come back because she knew he was still alive
Except he wouldn't
AU in which you become an immortal and unable to feel any pain if your 'soulmate' dies. However, if they have been reborn in the next timeline, they will have no memories of the person who was destined to them in the past. You return to being a mortal once your soulmate falls in love with you again.
Jinhae — Hae-in lost her life in the battle with the monsters during the war with the Monarchs. Jin-woo was heartbroken and mad, blaming himself for not saving Hae-in unlike before. He saved the world, but not his world. Even as the Chalice of Rebirth has been used, Jin-woo remained immortal as he already was, living in the newfound world where nobody would have to die or suffer anymore. Jin-woo had a chance to treat the universe as his realm, as the human world would no longer need him, but he stayed nonetheless — he needed Hae-in the most.
Minlee — Byung-gyu died amidst the Jeju raid. Ju-hee wondered why she couldn't feel an ounce of pain after accidentally touching hot water. Her mother told her that her soulmate had bit the dust. Ju-hee somehow couldn't believe why she was crying over someone whom she never even met, but sooner, she realized that she lost the person whom she was supposed to spend the rest of her life with. War had torn their fates apart from intertwining.
Heeseok — when news broke out that one of South Korea's most powerful hunters had bitten the dust, Hee-jin felt like her world crumbled into ashes. She ignored the concerned looks from the hunters when they witnessed her get injured without wincing in agony. They realized she had lost her soulmate, but Hee-jin didn't want to talk about it; she could only hold on the hope of seeing Eun-seok someday even if it meant it would take her an eternity.
Sungpark — when Il-hwan died, that was the last time Kyung-hye felt pain. Knowing about the whole thing of soulmates, she waited for years and years to cross paths with her husband, willing to wait for a hundred more as she already did when he first disappeared, all while comforting her son, who carried the empty space Hae-in had left in his soul.
Choibaek — Jong-in died protecting Yoon-ho from explosive attacks from the monsters. Yoon-ho desperately tried to save him and the healers did their best to heal the hunter, but it was too late. Yoon-ho mourned and lived with a broken heart, the most excruciating years in his life, watching days go by without his firefly next to him. The only time he would find happiness was when he found Jong-in, and Yoon-ho swore to not lose him again.
Woozhi — Zhigang was there at Jin-chul's funeral. The handsome, stoic man who caught his eye at the USA. He wondered how their life could've went if Jin-chul had not mounted on the plane by his own. A lot of what if's, but none managed to heal Zhigang's heart as he waited and made a place in Korea, growing tired of his immortality and praying for his soulmate to pull him out of his 'curse'.
Taenoru — Minoru got killed during a severe dungeon break in Tokyo. Tae-gyu didn't know why he was even affected by the news, he barely interacted with Minoru at all, so why would he care? Turns out, he did. As he began to outlive his guild members, Tae-gyu wondered how things could've been if he listened carefully into what else his heart wanted.
