Summer Interior, 1909 - Edward Hopper

Hokusai was nearly 70 when he began "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji". "Red Fuji" became its most iconic image for good reason. The deep blue sky comes from Prussian blue, a newly imported pigment that transformed Japanese printmaking. Against it, Mount Fuji glows in terracotta red, capturing the brief moment when summer light reveals the mountain's bare volcanic slopes. Hokusai lived to 88 and never stopped working.
