It is frustrating to me that there are line notes for things like calling Apollo Phoebus (even I know that), but after making such a big deal about Achilles being swift-footed, there is nothing here. This seems important! Achilles dies young and all his family knew he would; Achilles is the swift-footed one; Achilles is constantly being addressed, even insultingly, for his speed. This line turns his entire life into a race against death, something he isn't fast enough to avoid - or something that has been coming for him all his life and he's been running fast enough so far.
I want to know if that's in the original!
And now I also want to know how literal the translation swift-footed is, and whether the original as a reference to feet is also a reference to his famous heel.
