Sugababes - Overload 2000
"Overload" is the debut single of British girl group Sugababes. It was released on 11 September 2000 as the lead single from the group's debut studio album, One Touch. At the time, the group consisted of young teenagers Siobhán Donaghy, Mutya Buena and Keisha Buchanan. "Overload" was co-written by Sugababes together with the song's co-producers Cameron McVey, Paul Simm and Jony Rockstar.
"Overload" reached number 6 on the UK Singles Chart and was nominated for "Best British Single" at the 2001 BRIT Awards. It peaked at number 15 in Ireland, number 3 in Austria for two consecutive weeks, number 3 in Germany, number 5 in Switzerland, and number 2 in New Zealand. The song features on the soundtrack to the 2001 film High Heels and Low Lifes, and the 2002 film 40 Days and 40 Nights. English indie pop band Bastille covered the song for the soundtrack of the 2015 film Kill Your Friends. Mattel teamed with the Sugababes to create a new themed Barbie collection, which was released only in the UK in May 2007.
One Touch became the only album featuring the group's original line-up, until 2022. Donaghy left the group in 2001 and was replaced by former Atomic Kitten member Heidi Range. With her, Sugababes released three multi-platinum albums. In December 2005, Buena was replaced by Amelle Berrabah. In 2009, after 11 years in Sugababes, Buchanan, the final original member, was sacked without her knowledge and replaced by Jade Ewen. In 2011, the original lineup re-formed as Mutya Keisha Siobhán and released the single "Flatline". The trio regained the legal rights to the name Sugababes in 2019.
"Overload" received a total of 53,2% yes votes.
