“I know I’m supposed to let go of negative emotions, meditate it out, as is the Jedi way that you have been teaching me, Master. But I’m also human. And I think even you would get annoyed having the same person, who you don’t want to speak to, much less someone you shouldn’t be speaking to alone because of your rank, keep calling you.” Maybe he would get some points for choosing to open a window and through his commlink out the window instead of taking out his frustration in other ways. “But yes, Master, that’s why I’m here, for your comfort and guidance.”
Anakin had come to Obi-Wan. He had learned over the years training under him that his Master would listen to him and seemed have a wealth of wisdom and advice. Maybe at times he rebelled, especially when he was early teenager, but that had fizzled out by now.
“I didn’t get much from him because most of the calls I didn’t answer. The first call I did because i thought maybe he got the wrong channel looking for Master Yoda instead. Otherwise, I don’t know how he got my channel. He asked me how my training was going and I said that I thought it was going well but you would be the judge of that. Then he said he had mission that he wanted me on and I told him to contact the Council about it. I didn’t get the details because I hung up on him. I don’t decide what missions I go on. You do. Anyway after that, he kept calling me and it was driving me mad so then I threw my commlink out the window.”
He paused. “You don’t think he’s getting some kind of revenge because the few times I saw him when I was younger, I hid behind you or my Masters in my classes? I don’t know. He just always not felt right to me.” Of course now Anakin was too tall to completely hide behind Obi-Wan as a physical shield.
Hearing Anakin recount everything that had happened made Obi-Wan feel sick. Something certainly was not right with this interaction and he would make sure to deal with it directly from the source. That would come with due time though. For now, he wanted to help alleviate some of the stress that was radiating off of Anakin. He supposed even the most well trained jedi would become fed up with such incessant calling. Master Yoda would certainly be hearing about this. It was inappropriate and Obi-Wan was glad the younger was smart enough to recognize it as so.
“Anakin, you’ve done a really good thing by telling me this.” Obi-Wan said, “And we will make sure that this berating ends immediately. When we return to Coruscant, I will speak with Master Yoda about where to go about with this and that will likely end with me having a serious conversation with the Chancellor.” He placed a hand on the other’s shoulder and squeezed. He used his force signature to reach out to Anakin’s, wrapping them both in warmth.
“I don’t think that this is some revenge plot from the old man, but I do have a feeling he’s doing something fishy. We’ll handle it as I said, so you don’t have to worry anymore. I promise.”
