Inferno Bragging Rights
Project Title: Inferno Fandom: Game of Thrones Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/55873573 Summary: Modern AU, sequel to The Old Curiosity Ship. Jorah and Daenerys are officially a couple and thriving as antiquarians. When she takes their relationship to the next level, their smoldering desire for each other bursts into flames, consuming them both. Warnings: None Characters: Jorah Mormont, Daenerys Targaryen, Missandei, Grey Worm, Barristan Selmy, Jeor Mormont, Tyrion Lannister, Samwell Tarly Pairings: Jorah Mormont/Daenerys Targaryen When I Started: I came up with the idea for a sequel while I was still working on the first fic in the series, The Old Curiosity Shop (OCS). I wrote that fic, 100K words for a new ship/fandom, in less than 3 months. It was an amazing accomplishment and I can still hardly believe I was able to do that! Resolving the unresolved sexual tension in a separate fic with a higher rating seemed like a great continuation of a storyworld I loved. My reader audience also seemed really excited about a possible sequel. So right after I completed OCS at the end of May 2024, I began working on the first chapter of Inferno and posted it up in June that same year. How I Lost My Shit: Losing my way with Inferno was a combination of factors. The actual audience response was extremely disappointing compared to how much I thought readers were looking forward to the sequel, so I began to be discouraged and take long breaks between chapter updates. Later, my world was turned upside down when this fic’s main cheerleader and the ship fandom completely broke my heart. Creating content for a ship where it’s obvious you’re unwelcome in that fandom community is one of the hardest, loneliest things ever. It was only thanks to the support of certain people in my life that I didn’t just delete everything and give up altogether. How I Finished My Shit: I found this event by accident on Tumblr, so I took a chance and signed up. Even though I was unsure, one of my other fandoms rallied behind me and supported my decision to go through with the event challenge. Then, with the help of dear friends, I was able to pull myself together, get back on my feet, and finish what I started. So much effort was involved and so many tears were shed as the months went by and I worked on my draft for the remaining chapters. It’s been a long, difficult journey to get to this destination, the last chapter. And as I take a deep breath of relief, I am glad it is now finally over and this story is completed after 1 year and 3 months.
