“I’m gonna…” he mumbles, moving away to look Harry in the eye. The green-eyed man’s mouth is half open, his pupils are blown and his cheeks are furiously red. The light shining on his face leaves Louis out of breath at the way he looks. “Beautiful.”

Harry smiles contentedly, leaning down to press his forehead against Louis’ “May l—?” He tries to ask, but Louis interrupts him with a gasp, his head moving up and down in affirmation.

He wants it, God, he wants it so much that his fingers ache from how long it took him to get it. Harry giggles, beginning to press kisses along Louis’ jaw, pressing his open mouth on his skin, so slow that Louis just wants to turn around and get it on his own; his lips against Harry’s.

“Just… please,” Louis begs, bouncing on his tiptoes, his voice dying at the end of the sentence. He swallows when Harry’s tongue licks the corner of his mouth and the next second, their lips collide. Louis’ eyes closed and his hand tightens on Harry’s neck, an appreciative hum coming out from his throat.

He’s happy for Liam, and if who he falls in love with ends up being a famous singer who writes him songs, great. But he’s also a tad jealous because he remembers his phase—that he definitely grew out of a long time ago—where he was certain he’d marry Louis Tomlinson.

Now, as he’s standing in the doorway, he’s trying not to get choked up. He hadn’t realized how much he missed this: the smell of his mother’s baking, the sounds of each of his family members, the sight of some of his old toys scattered about the foyer where his littlest siblings had presumably left them. All these things scream home, and he hadn’t felt at home since he left this house eight years ago. 

Louis needs a break from everything, from acting and the constant pressure of life in LA. He decides to move back home for a bit, some time with his family is exactly what can lift his spirits. What he doesn't expect is to fall in love. Both with the town he hated so much so that he couldn't wait to leave it years ago and with a curly haired florist that was the complete opposite of the guys he'd often meet in LA.

This fic was written as part of an ongoing challenge. We each select random numbers and are given a specific emotion from the book 1000 Feelings For Which There Are No Names. My prompt was 692: The shock that absolutely nothing has changed about your hometown.

Harry looks sickly when Louis turns around, pale and exhausted and watching him unflinchingly. Louis swallows hard and crawls over to him, pressing close to his side. Harry breathes in slowly and then shudders out a sob, and Louis scrambles to wrap him up in his arms. Harry clings to him and cries into his neck for what feels like hours, like a lifetime, and Louis wishes there was anything he could do to make it stop. Instead he just holds him, lays them down on the thin, terrible mattress and lets Lavender curl up between them, in whatever tiny space she can find to tuck herself into. She knows Harry is sad, Louis can tell, because she looks distressed, staring up at Louis like there’s anything he can do to fix it.
