Trapunto Quilting
Trapunto, from the Italian word for "to quilt", is a method of quilting that is also called "stuffed technique". Trapunto is a quilting technique that creates a raised, decorative design by stuffing fabric layers with batting or yarn.Â
Unlike 'normal' quilting, where two layers of fabric have a layer of wadding between them and are stitched through all the layers, Trapunto uses two layers of fabric and the stuffing is only placed in defined areas, after all the stitching is complete. This creates a raised, decorative design.
