It’s raining in Toronto today , and it’s a perfect kind of day to be quiet , enjoy the solitude and self reflect . The first thing I am doing after yoga and meditation today is journaling, a great start to a day ! It helps me calm my mind and make me feel so positive . I am forever a student 👩🏻🎓 👗 One of the main reasons I love fashion is that I am constantly learning. A big part of what I do at Evolution Vintage / @55thousanddresses is research. I research fabrics/textiles, date garments (which includes sometimes researching zippers, old brands/designers, old designer ad’s), researching labels, studying design and garment construction. I also educate myself about the designers of days gone by as well as referencing contemporary designer collections. Where do you think they get their inspiration? My education extends into costuming for stage and screen. Finally, my passion for finding vintage clothes new homes was inspired by our climate crisis and the role the fashion industry plays. To re-style, re-wear and reuse these garments we take a step toward sustainability. I need to learn all that I can about this issue in hopes of making a meaningful contribution to a solution.
