God he still missed he would miss her but she was right he need to fill whole and loved again the question was could someone suited for him be able to love him as just much if not more than Mary did.
After his nature walk he went to Mary grace sat on the bench talk to gravestone told her about the one that's the one, admitting his insecurities and hesitation about the whole as. He sat talking to her he felt relaxed and tired and started to drift off and before Burt ended up sleeping past five minutes midnight the text of the address to meet his soulmate. When it turned five past midnight Burt was awaken by the nudge of the caretaker of cemetery,
He said, "Hey old man not wise to sleep in the grace past midnight."
Burt yelled, "Past midnight!" He got his phone saw the text with the address bid his wife goodbye and thanks to the caretaker in waking him. Burt following the gps coordinates of his suppose soulmate he was relived that address was not to far from the cemetery. It was 12:15 am. He was fifteen minutes late not a good first impression to his soulmate, but it was something she would have to get used. He stood by the front door of his soulmate took a breath door on the knock and he was stunned not a woman but a man on the other side of the door.
A man Burt he thought a very young quarter til his age man. He was thin but muscular about the same height as him. This guy Had brown hazel eyes, Burt had felt he was looking at younger him before he met Mary. When this guy said Hi, Burt's mind nearly lost the train of thought but was able to manage in saying,
This guy still looked confused, "Okay, are you..."
"I am the one that's the one."
Burt went into this guys apartment feeling he and him should figure or consider what possible went wrong with their match he thought definitely there was a mistake and together they should both get their credits back.
About maybe half an hour talking with Stu seeing that he felt more than him. It was comforting for Burt to know he was not alone in feeling that way. When Stu asked him if he was hungry and he was in the urge for some good wholesome below the line food at Al's dinner. Burt was happy that Stu same good appreciation for below the line food as much as him. So as they left Stu's apartment Stu said to Burt
"Hey big guy, wanna walk or share a cab."
Burt said "Big guy, what you do think a fat."
Stu felt as if had offended trying to apologize and recover from comment that meant to be a joke.
"Sorry, no just look strong that what meant sorry I tend to make bad jokes."
Burt chuckled, "Don't sweat about kid, I do make bad jokes too, at least both we should ever have a glorious career as comedians. For me I like to walk if you don't mind
Stu laughed patted his back as he answered, "I Don't mind a walk either, let's go."
One hour of walking and talking Burt and Stu made it to Al's dinner Burt couldn't remember how much of good time since mary died. Burt was also amazed how much him and Stu had in common from bad jokes, loving walks than rides, and so enjoying the exact same meal at al's dinner. Burt had to admit he liked Stu he was funny he made him smile he was happy for first time he lost Mary which he didn't realize how comfortable he was with Stu to admit that his wife.
After apologizing Stu admitted something more cosmic than Stu and Burt realize. Stu told Burt,
" Really, who?" Burt asked
"Actually, I never meet him, only heard of him, from someone. "
"This sounds like an interesting story you must tell." Burt said
Stu began with his story "About year ago, I was arrested from DUI, not proud of that haven't drank since then. But anyway for sentencing I had to volunteer at the hospital nursing and comforting the people were about to pass. There one lady talk with i don't why I told how alone and lost I felt wondering if you ever find someone I could just me with me. And i will always remember the one thing she told me."
Stu stopped reliving that time with wise old Mary when Burt took his hand but on top his and said, "Go ahead, stu, when you are ready"
Stu sighed smiled to have new good friend to be honest with it, so proceeded in telling Burt the wise old Mary told him.
"Be open and happy with what you have, need, and love that will carry you through
Burt let go Stu's hand wipe little of tears from his face, as he told Stu,
"That was my wife, wise old mary. Gosh I will miss her always saying that to me, you were the guy she was talking about before she died, thank you."
"For being their for her, for letting her be wise for you as much for me."
Stu smiled and thought out loud, "That is probably the nicest anyone has ever said to me."
Burt trying to joke to lighten the serious mood, "Then I guess you don't much complementing."
Stu chuckled, "No, Burt I don't, but not as much you have."
As they ended their late night breakfast dinner. He was surprised that Stu was going for hug he thought a simple handshake would be best wanted the hug and he didn't know for the same reason didn't know why smile was coming across his face and they parted ways glancing at each other waving goodbyes both wondering if that was a chance that there could be more than friendship between them.
