Just a quick note that this blog is changing themes. I’m going to try to post writing and book-related content...and actually try to post every day for the next year (we’ll see about that).
I’m trying this new thing called “Sit Your Ass Down And Finish the Damn Book!”
Seriously, it’s been 3 years and I’m only on what I’m calling “Draft 1.5″ because there a few scenes that are missing, but Act 1 and parts of Act 2 have already been re-arranged, edited for errors, and have had more fleshing out.
I did this with the contemporary book- the stalling and taking forever to finish- and eventually gave up on it. It wasn’t a bad story, but I had grown so far away from the writer who started that book that it was a pain to push through and type words on it. I grew and no longer wanted to be a part of that world.
That will not be the case with “Hellfire” (working title). I’ve actually grown fonder of the characters and the world. Part of my brain wants to do another book set in the same world.
Why the change? I just turned another decade older and I’m through with just sitting around and waiting for inspiration to strike. I’m through with sitting on the sidelines, just waiting to be picked, but not doing anything to get noticed. I’m through with soul-draining jobs. This ends today
So, the plan: Finish book. Polish book. Query to Agents. Get signed with Agent. Book deal. Along the way, I want to go to grad school for publishing. I want to move. And I definitely want to change jobs.
I just have to take the first step. Stay tuned. It’s bound to get interesting.
